The fuel costs more $ and you get less MPG.

The MPG depends on the fuel run and the tuning of the vehicle. If the vehicle is tuneds for Gas and runs on ethanol.....bad MPG, and vice verse

I have a Yukon that can burn E-85. Never tried it as it's not available. I also have a Prius.

IIRC, there's ONE in Phoenix... but it's NOT available to the public.. and there's a handful (4-5) in Tucson that are available to the public..

Natural Gas or Diesel is a much better alternative than E-85..

Universally, vehicles run on E85 consistently get worse gas mileage than those run on E10 (regular gas). The reason is that ethanol has less energy per gallon, forcing your engine to work harder and burn more to achieve the same power. That combined with the fact that E85 requires more energy to create than it produces (at least until they switch to cellulose based ethanol) makes it a bad choice.

It's usually far worse than 2%:

In that link, the Nissan Titan has a 28-29% loss, and the Chrysler Sebring has a 27-32% loss, for example.

e-85 sux! the gas mileage was horrible, so they want us to pay more for the fuel and get less mileage? @*&#^*!(#*$*&)(@&*#^)!!!!!!!!!! i'll stick with regular unleaded.

then again, i think my vehicle was still tuned for unleaded. diddo.

i don't like people who uses "signature" on their profile. TAKE IT OFF!!!

i dirve a diesel VW. get 45 mpg on average, and with the exception of NOX i put out less emissions than most vehicles of comparible size. i would run biodiesel, but the only place locally that sells it is WSP in downtown phoenix, and they have weird hours. i love my car, and love getting 650 miles out of a tank of fuel.
