Why is the 347 littered with broken down cars on the side of the road. I have never driven from the 10 to maricopa without seeing at least 2 broken down cars and usually more. What is it about that road that makes peoples cars break down? When are the police going to address this problem?

I think that most of it is because of the heat. I just don't understand why they leave them for so long.

I see pieces of tires everywhere......it's key to keep them up to speed here.

Most is the heat.. but there are TONS of people that:

A. Don't know how to change a flat tire
B. Don't carry a spare tire.

I see cars left on the side of the road, no one around, flat tire.. or car is on Jack Stands, but no one around.. haha

cheap housing in in maricopa, and jobs are in phoenix. some people can't afford better cars and the mileage they put on in a day is killing them. especially if they aren't properly maintained in this heat.

mike, i can't believe how many people don't know how to change a tire. its frightening to think about what major maintenence is ignored because people won't learn basic things about their car.

not carring a spare is just as dumb. you should even consider getting a full size spare if you live out here, just so you can drive to a repair shop if you do get a flat. most temporary spares are only god for low speeds and short distances...

I don't know how many times I've seen somebody doing 70 on a doughnut cruising to town, it is amazing more of them don't explode and send the car into oncoming traffic or a ditch or both!

Ugh, getting so sick of this forum software, who is at the wheel here?

The spare that came with my car is rated for 3,000 miles but only 50 MPH.

Half the cars that I see broke down are probably not worth the amount of what it would cost the driver for a new tire!

Can you believe the amount of cars/trailers that are on the side of the road that aren't even on a jack with the tire gone! Dumba$$'s have a spare...but no jack? Doh!!!

My father is a mechanic...I was REQUIRED to know how to change a tire, check fluids, check belts, know basic car maintenance before I was allowed to get my license! I ran out of gas ONCE! My father brought me a gas can - empty. Told me that I best get walking to the gas station to fill it. Notice this only happened ONCE! People need to take more responsibility for their cars, you can't always rely on the "Good Samaritan" to help you out.

***official stop by***

I have read and understood the posting on this thread and have nothing to add.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Unfortunately not all the cars on the side of the road are just break downs. Many of them are stolen vehicles. They get dumped out here because it's so close to the reservations and so far from town.
