Cyndi... It very obvious that you have some connection to this project.. you seem VERY well informed. Please don't take all this so personal. We are just venting... and actually now PRASING the work on Phase 2.... There is no arguing that phase 1 was not managed properly and lots of residents will agree. I not only had to replace my windshield within the first few DAYS of the project but also ended up replacing a tire... Phase 2 seems to be going much better... i would like to see them clean up all the loose rocks when they are done each stretch of road but...... it's better than driving on a milled road for weeks..

It was smooth and level with the old pavement, with good transitions at the start and end. Very well done.

You are more than welcome to email me. I said the REASON for milling isn't to fix the subgrade, because it isn't. I can arrange a meeting with you and someone from the pavement laboratory at ASU and ADOT so they can cover this with you if you would like. When you are at work, are there parts of your job that people not in your industry don't understand? Of course there are. That's why you have that job. Let them do theirs.

Agit8d, I am well connected! My husband runs the pavement lab at ASU and my father-in-law is a professor with 40 years in pavement design. There were ADOT people at our wedding. We talk pavement over our wheaties! No complaints from me! I am proud of their work, and I just want people to understand that we don't know everyone's jobs, and chances are that they don't know ours either. Patience is a virtue. I know progress isn't always pleasant, but it's always progress. I don't take anything personally on here. Life is way too short.

OK, forgive me for not understanding, but if the subgrade was fixed, why is it still bumpy?

some of it is still bumpy because it was never milled. Drive South in the left lane. you can still feel the rumble strip under the new surface. Hopefully when (if) a final surface is applied it will cover that up.. Cyndi... i don't know how else to explain it... the process really does not matter. the problem is the process was not followed as planned.. period end of story... If you go get a hair cut and they only cut one side and wait several weeks to cut the other... well that's not what you expected when you walked in the door and that's not how a hair cut is sold... the project was sold one way and done completely different.. Honestly, knowing their job has nothing to do with it either....
