Anyone know if there is anything in the works for another road to go past the train tracks. Right now there is only the 347, will they be adding more roads parallel to the 347 to get past it?

Thanks

There are several that cross the tracks now: White/Parker, Porter, Hartman and Ralston come to mind. If and when they ever put in an overpass at 347 - I imagine they will detour to both Ralston and Porter.

If you are referring to a DIRECT, no cutting back type path between points A and B like 347 - not that anyone has indicated. There is no true parallel path available - subdivisions are in the way.

It is said that the railroad is not keen on permitting more crossings because it will create more liability for them if someone wanders through the crossing gates and get struck. Evidently they'd like for all new crossings (not that any are planned, however) to be grade separated by an overpass or underpass.

A year or so ago, the talk was of a proposed move of the train station, it would be located a mile down the road from where it is now. That would free up the crossing at 347, as currently the Amtrak trains block the crossing for a while when they arrive late at night. The long-term plan is to separate the crossing via an overpass or underpass, but that's waaaaay off into the future.

There were several options discussed last year.

Go to this section of the city's website: http://www.cityofmaricopa.net/transportation-assets/transportation-project.html

Scroll down about half way and look under "Public Meeting Materials from October 25 meeting NEW". There is a PowerPoint presentation there that shows all 5 considered options.
