Saw a sign when I turned onto 347 from I-10 that said "Construction next 6 miles". Google Maps shows that segment to be ~6 miles. Wonder when construction will start...

Can't wait until they put on the final rubberizing coat. The right southbound lane between Rinker and the part where it curves towards Maricopa has already gotten rough.

The last article that I read stated that the work between county line and the 10 was to be in Pinal County's next years budget.

Such fiscal years are typically numbered using a calendar year and quarter thereof. A fiscal quarter is 3 months (1/4 of a year). For example, the United States government fiscal year for 2008 ("FY08", sometimes written "FY07-08") is as follows:

1st Quarter: October 1, 2007 – December 31, 2007
2nd Quarter: January 1, 2008 – March 31, 2008
3rd Quarter: April 1, 2008 – June 30, 2008
4th Quarter: July 1, 2008 – September 30, 2008

were the hours of construction dictated by pinal county or by choice of the construction company?

if it was dictated by pinal county will maricopa county have the same requirement? i can't imagine maricopa county taking the residents of pinal county into consideration on this project. some construction companies also pay their workers more for the nontypical work schedule, so it may be cheaper for them to work a more traditional schedule. plus i'm sure the employees would rather not be wandering around the desert at night.....

what i'm trying to say is if the construction company has the option to work 7a to 3p will they? if they do we are in for a long long long miserable commute.

Looks like it will be starting soon. Northbound lanes had a "Construction next 6 miles" sign right where the new pavement ends, along with a bunch of equipment on the side of the road.

Per Copa News.

"The initial pavement for SR 347 has been completed except for some cross-over sections and some “coring” (holes are drilled in the road to obtain samples) that will be done to test material quality.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is scheduled to close the left lane of northbound State Route 347 on Monday, October 1 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The closure will be from Casa Blanca Road to the Maricopa county line.

Expect to see work on the Casa Blanca Road/SR 347 interchange, which started on September 24.

The last layer of paving, the “friction course” – rubberized asphalt, will begin approximately October 15. This last paving is dependent on the roadway surface being 85 degrees or higher. If the temperatures drop too low, the asphalt placement will be postponed to next June, according to ADOT Senior Resident Engineer Carter McKune. Some of the work may need to be done in daytime, but McCune expects this to take only a week, with only one lane at a time closed down.

The SR 347 paving project north of the Pinal County/Maricopa County line to the Queen Creek/I10 intersection begins on October 1. The majority of that work will be done at night.

NOTE: ADOT BIDDING STARTS ON OCTOBER 15 FOR A LIGHT FOR THE MARICOPA/CASA GRANDE HIGHWAY/SR 347 INTERSECTION. Within a few months, expect to see a light at that intersection."

Why are they doing that? For the core samples?

LOL! Calling it an interchange is generous.
