It looks like the other Jeep thread took a dive on Page 2, so I will start a new one. Who all is interested in a run next weekend on that trail off 238? I vote for Sunday the 7th. Anyone?

At least they didn't kill page one, that's got some nice pictures on it. I tried, putting a '...' comment on there, but page 2 just won't come back.

That may have been my fault. I was adding some pictures of the Old Mission Trail off 238. Seems it took a dive after that.

I am sure that it was a glitch. I let Carolyn know.

So that's what it looks like. I am looking forward to it. Nice shot, Aaron. Morning or afternoon? It looks so clear, no haze. The shadows add a depth to the shot.

This was in the afternoon. I drove a few miles back- there is a an old water pit that the travelers used (just a shallow dirt pit now). This hill is just South and West of that. After that- the road got significantly rougher as it starts to wind through some hills. Lots of Saguaro's in the area- could make for some very nice shooting.

I was by myself and only have 2wd so I hiked the hill and waited for sunset.

I looked up the Butterfield trail in my map book. It looks like a fun trail. It starts on 238 and works its way back there as well.

Here is an ancient map of the area. When I get my scanner working, I will put up a map of the trail.

I am up for it. I have been on that one quite a few times. It is not a hard trail, 2wd would make it, but it is close by and better than nothing. Count me in.
Shoot me a pm.

It was great meeting you all, and we (Sue and I) had a good time. The weather was perfect, desert was prestine, and the low level fly by was great added surprise. We hope to meet up again in the future.
Happy jeepin.

They're coming. I was too tired when we got back to download them from my camera. There were three of us shooting, so I'll bet that there are two or three good pictures from the bunch.

This was a great run. Not too challenging (except for the hill where Evilspock tried to launch his TJ into outer space). It was really fun and what is really great is that it's close by. That's a great thing about Maricopa - we may be a long way from town, but we're close to the trails, National Monuments, and unlimited photo opportunities. I also recorded our tracks on the GPS, so I will post a screen capture of where we were.

Talked to a local tow truck driver who retreives stolens in the Sonoran Monument. He explained
that the Vekol Road south forks off and to the west you follow the gas line and come upon an Indian village called Caca...phoenitc about 15 houses.

Now, to the east you can happen upon an old turquiose mine and a hermit. I need to Google Earth to see where all these places are, but thought the jeepers on hear would like the info.

Some people will do anything to get elected!

Working on them- These things take time man! I am going through 2 days worth and 2 cameras.

They'll be up by tomorrow if not later tonight.

It was great to meet everyone and DD- thanks for letting me bum a ride. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

Here we go... one last chance at the trailhead to chicken out. Nobody did.

And here's where we're going. Not only is it a fun trail, a scenic trail, but there is a ton of history.

By God, we got us a convoy!
