I have to admit, I was one of the people saying that they desperately needed to resurface 347. In doing so, I willingly forfeit my right to complain about the construction and related traffic. But here is my question. Why the hell did they decide NOT to resurface the roughest part (i.e. from I-10 to where they stopped or started the construction. There are giant cracks and holes in this part of the road and everyone drives in the better of the two lanes in each direction to avoid it, making traffic worse.

That's where it changes from Pinal County to Maricopa County. Different time schedule, different funding. Be thankful they are actually doing both sections within months of each other. Us oldtimers are used to them being years apart. (So one section is always good and the other crap!)

I understand that its a different county, but its a State highway, shouldn't the funding come from the same place?

Anyway, thanks for the update, glad to hear it is also being done.

It's all ADOT, but they budget and contract based on the county. The good thing is that they're doing both the Pinal County and Maricopa County sections back to back, so we only have to deal with the disruption once (for a longer time period, but all at once). They also awarded it to the same company that's doing the Pinal county portion, so the good thing there is that the company has already figured out that they can't work on that road in either direction durring the day because even going against the commute doesn't work, so we won't have to go through that learning curve with another company. Plus, they already have their equipment out here, so they won't have to take the time to get that all set up a second time.
