So let me get this straight Jason says that 65mph is too slow of a speed limit for 347. He wants to make it 75mpg. It is about 16 miles from Maricopa to I10 & Queen Creek. At 65mph it takes about 15 minutes and that means no stopping any where and light traffic. Now lets increase the speed limit to 75mph and it will take you about 13 minutes so you save about 2 minutes. Even at 85mph you only save about 4 minutes. Is 4 minutes really worth it?

personally, id rather spend the extra 2 minutes and save the money on gas.

Keep it at 65 and stay alive. I always leave early.
Just in case.

Lets just drop it to 45 and have it take 6 more minutes to get where we are going to be safe.

How about 25. No accidents happen at 25 right? It's worth it isn't it?

"really worth it?" Yes. I do not believe that 75 is a problem, since most traffic travels at that speed safely anyway. Yes, yes I think it is worth it.

Jason, The problem with your thinking is most people drive 10mph over the speed limit so that would mean 85mph. Most people can't handle driving that fast so they drive between 65 and 70mph so now you have an even greater sread of sppeds which is what causes the most problems on the road.

65 is fine. I think going fast can only cause more problems.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Gee, that's what everyone said when the speed limit was raised from 55...

The problem with your thinking is that it contradicts facts. Most people drive a safe speed regardless of the speed limit. Study after study shows this.

Jason, That is a true statement as long as all of the traffic goes the speed but when you have some poeple traveling at speeds that are 10mph or more then the average flow is where you have the problems also During rush hour you have a heavy volume of traffic which also creates problems which speed increases the risk of accidents. So where this is going if Morons like you would get a clue and the real reason I started this post is to show you how much time you save by trying to get people to move out of your way and crowed into the right lane. Yes keeping right does help only when the taffic is lite and not like it is in the morning when you have 20,000 vehicles using the same road at the same time going in the same direction. Even if and when they do expand the road to 3 lanes in both direction there still will be the problems on that road. All you have to do is look at any road they have added lanes to in the valley and see that most still have too many vehicles on them.
