Alert | | I would like to know what idiot decided first off that the road was in that bad condition that it needed to be redone. Next I would like to know that since I have to wait in traffic everynight, for over an hour sometimes, "WHY ARE THEY NOT PUTTING IN A THIRD LANE! FOR GOD SAKES!" Do you, who ever you are that makes these decisions, want more business? Then we need a bigger road in and out of this town. And if you start tearing this road up again in five years to add a third lane, it just proves to myself that you are RETARDED!!!!

Alert | | I think the 3 bridges have something to do with it. Expanding those bridges would be expensive and take quite longer.

Alert | Dear primetm- Maybe you should go to college and get an "Engineering" degree, or maybe a "Financial Planning" degree. The reason is, simply, FUNDS!!!!
I don't know how new you are to MR (Maricopa Road) but just in case it was within the past 8 months, I will tell you they milled this road well over 8 months ago, and that was to spend the funds already alocated for State Highway repairs.
Next quarter of the State budget went to resurfacing, which has to be spent by the end of October.
Yep! you are right! They just might come along within the next 5 years and add a third lane, when there is more money alocated for more lanes.
The original construction was in 1991, and 16 years is a long time for resurfacing, especially with these OTTO trash haulers and large construction equipment that had to travel this road to get your home built for you!
Until you get that degree you so desperatly need, maybe you should refrain from calling others idiots! | | "Your future is a rainbow of beautiful memories when you hold a dream in your heart"

Alert | Hey Granny, I have a question; since you seem to know quite a bit about the State Highway repairs for our county...why didn't the person making the decisions that has the "Engineering" degree or "Financial Planning" degree decide to add a third lane first and then repave the road in the next 5 years?
I was able to drive perfectly fine with the few cracks and potholes that were periodically filled when needed. What I can't deal with this road being closed each time an accident occurs and there isn't enough room to go around the accident or not having another route that isn't an hour out of my way. I would have thought the demand for this third lane was greater than a resurfacing project?
The areas where the bridges are would still have only two lanes but I don't think that would cause a major problem for cars to merge into and out of for normal drivers who actually pay attention while on the road.
Just a thought...3 year resident to Maricopa<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

Alert | | I think there is a reason that the roads do not merge before bridges.

The road was already overdue for repaving. If they continued to let it go, they would be looking at completely ripping up the road and paving a new one. If you thought this was inconvenient, that would be far worse. Just because you were comfortable with it's current status, doesn't mean that it would be structurally sound for 5 more years. | | Joined: Jul 2005

I'm stunned. Do you not drive I-10? Do you see the backup that happens when I-10 goes from three lanes to two approaching Queen Creek? It is a capacity issue, having multiple points where the road is two lanes would make it just as bad as a two lane road.
