Alert | Hi all,
So I am new to the Maricopa community, and have been lurking here for sometime now.
I recently had my insurance switched over and was told that they do not count speeding tickets when compiling my rates. Is this the norm? Back east, a ticket would increase your premiums at least 10-20%.
Peace :-) Big Jon | | | |

Alert | | I have never heard that, generally all moving violations affect your rates. How old is the ticket? A lot of companies won't count it if it's older than three years. | | Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.
Straight'nin' the curve, Flat'nin' the hills. Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.
Makin' their way, The only way they know how, That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.
Just good ol' boys, Wouldn't change if they could, Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

Alert | | I'd talk with them again, but I doubt you heard her correctly. All insurance companies look at ways to make more money off you. | | Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Alert | | I have never heard of that either. I think they are just trying to sell you.

Alert | I know that there is at least one insurance company out there (a major, big name company) that claims to have "accident forgiveness" where they say that they don't increase your rates if you get a ticket or have an accident. But, then if you read the fine print, they also state that they will 'remove the good driver discount' which means that they do in fact raise your rates if you get a ticket, they just try to be deceiptful about it. What you heard was probably something along the lines of that marketing scheme.
I have never heard of an insurance company that truly doesn't raise your rates if you get a ticket for any moving violation (unless you are able to go to driving school and therefor they don't get the report of you having received the ticket). Most will ignore any tickets over 3-5 years old depending on which company you go with.
Make sure to read the fine print if they're trying to sell you on something like that - there's bound to be clauses that effectively eliminate that statement.

I know of an instance where the moving violation didn't affect the premium. It only came up when the primary car was going to be switched from an older model to a newer model.
Naturally, the switch wasn't done. | | You may remember this from the original 85239: Proverbs 22:7 The rich ruleth over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender.
