Someone called me and said north bound is completely closed at Riggs.

Liberalism and capitalism address themselves to the cool, well-balanced mind. They proceed by strict logic, eliminating any appeal to the emotions. Socialism, on the contrary, works on the emotions, tries to violate logical considerations by rousing a sense of personal interest and to stifle the voice of reason by awakening primitive instincts.

A friend of mine was the 1st car at the light and saw it happen...

Another friend called, left RED at 6:30, and got to Riggs at 8:13..

Casa Balanca is also backed up about 7 miles accoring to another friend...

I just missed it.. I would be turning around and working from home if I was in it.

He did mention they closed it (and saw body bags on the ground)

They need to do another road from RED to I-10 with no exits..
4 lanes South, and 4 lanes north...

SOMETHING has to be done.. 1 way in and out is not going to cut it...

Okay...so I am in RED and need to get downtown (Phoenix), actually was suppose to be at work at 9...but obviously wreck or no wreck...that is not happening at this point.

My question now is, Can I get there from here???? Is 347 closed?

Thanks!

Plan on it taking you one hour to get to I-10 from Mariocopa. As for coming to Maricopa from the I-10 foget it. They have closed the road. If you know of an alternate route please post it.

Take Maricopa/Casa Grande hyway to Val Vista. Then make a left on Pinal to I10 West to Phoenix. I hate to have to give out this info but I take this route every day since they started the work on 347. It takes me about 30mins more to get to work but that beats almost 2 hours just to get to Riggs.

actually southbound is totally closed. the overturned semi is accross both lanes. The jack knifed semi is in the intersection. They had tow trucks there and a dozer scooping up the gravel off the road from the overturned truck. I left Desert Cedars at 7:20 and just got to work at Ray and I-10

There is nothing in the news about this being fatal, so I don't think what your friend saw was body bags...it is expected to be cleaned up by 10:30; if it was fatal it would be closed much longer than three hours, I'm sure.

Just the good ol' boys,
Never meanin' no harm,
Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Straight'nin' the curve,
Flat'nin' the hills.
Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.

Makin' their way,
The only way they know how,
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

Just good ol' boys,
Wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

The accident looked like the running of a red light. Is it me or does it seem like the majority of the accidents on 347 involved tractor trailers? WTF is going on with these guys?

I think the accidents are pretty well distributed. For the number of big rigs travelling that road, I think they are in very few of the accidents.

It was only two trucks? That's good to hear. The jack-knifed truck looked like two to me, but I honestly didn't look that closely. I heard, when we stopped at Love's, that there were also a couple cars involved?

I left about 7:35ish and got in about 9:20.

Yes, which is surprising, since I've seen so many drivers act like their big rig is a sports car.

We barely missed the accident heading Northbound when it happened. Ambulance was on its way to the scene, I dropped my daughter off in Awahtukee and it took me 2 1/2 hrs to get home by taking I-10 to Casa Blanca. Does anyone know if the road is opened again? We have people coming into town and need to know what to tell them !!

My husband called me about it, it sounds like the truck with all the gravel couldn't stop in time. I don't necessarily think that's related to bad driving, just not really giving himself adequate time to stop. Hope everyone is okay. That light really scares me when I drive through because I know it must take a lot to stop a truck that big.

southbound is still closed and northbound is still brutal.
