Alert | | Every time I drive home from work after a long day having to fight traffic, I find myself needing yet another windshield, Paint Job and a Prozac. If its not another car on it's side, or a lane closure for 12 miles for 2 road trucks and 15 workers standing around, It's one of the four police departments that patrol the roads writting tickets to honest people who fight to make it home at a decent hour. I swear we gave the road contract to Fisher Price and the Leggo Corporation. What do we do ?

Alert | I'm not really sure what to tell you. You knew there was one road into town when you moved here and you knew that it was in desperate need of repair. Officers do write tickets for bad driving or speeding, I am pretty sure that is the same in most parts of the country.
I was worried that the drive would wear on me when my wife found our home, but, I have really enjoyed the drive. Even when it is slow.
I think the Prozac MIGHT help. Perhaps appreciating what you come home to could be a comfort?
BTW, wait untill the road is finished before buying another windshield. I am doing that myself.
Best of luck. Be safe. | | Let X=X

Alert | Sure the road could use some repair, but it wasn't desperately needed, I would have rather they used the money for other things like maybe with all the traffic coming to and from they could have widened the road an extra lane to help, or put an alert light before the first light into town to alert the big trucks that the light is going to change to red and gives them enough time to slow to a stop before it does. I have seen to many accidents right outside of our subdivision a Cobblestone farms, and I have seen numerous trucks slamming on their breaks and ending up in the middle of the intersection from not being able to stop in time. I think we are all frustrated with the road construction and I too have to replace my windshield, but I think what makes it worse is that we all see different ways that the money and effort could have been spent to help this town. And after all this is a place to vent and express yourself - we wouldn't want a town full of frustrated, bottled up people exploding at the same time now would we! NOT GOOD FOR EXPOSURE, lol.
But... A town full of people on Prozac might be fun!

Alert | | It didn't desperately need the repairs? I beg to differ. That road was torn up. For pretty much the whole stretch from the Riggs Light to the first bridge, the right lane was VERY bad. I would just shake my head as people would drive over the potholes without hesitation. The road very badly needed to be repaved and its great that they're finally doing it, but they are going about it all wrong. There was no need to Mill both lanes in each direction.

I totally agree with you! I just can't figure out how that makes sense? Maybe they were renting the equipment or something and just wanted to do it all at one time, but it really makes the road horrible.

Alert | i, too, have been unable to figure out the milling of both lanes before the paving of either. it baffles me every time i drive 347 these days.
as far as getting through your drive every day...turn the radio up and the speedometer down and just enjoy it. does getting worked up make the drive go faster? i think not. did anyone ever stop and do the math to figure out how much time you save by going 80 vs 60? well, assuming a 20 mile drive, you do it in 20 minutes at 60 MPH and 15 minutes at 80 MPH. does that 5 minutes really have such a huge impact on your life? even if traffic is only going at 40 MPH, it is still only a 30 minute drive. why is this such a huge deal for everyone? relax a little, you'll live longer and get all those minutes back plus some at the other end!

Alert | I too have wondered about the reasoning for milling both sides of the road. Being as both sides have 2 lanes, why didn't they just close one side, use the other side for both N and S bound and just get one side comepleted. Sure it would have slowed things, but it would have been done quicker, because you wouldn't have had to deal with everything getting ripped up; cars, trucks, windshield, workers....
Just my opinion, this was ill planned.

Alert | | 347 is the Germany version of the Autoband(sp?), only difference is one has the milled road. I don't see anyone going the speed limit on this highway.

Sounds like they need to adjust the speed limit to something more appropriate.

Alert | It's impossible to make everyone happy at once. Some people want one thing ...then another set another...then if you get what you want it's not done the way you think it should be done... someone will always find something to complain about.
yes it's uncomfortable and a pain at times but when it's over it will be alot better. I am happy that they are improving things. I think we should be greatful with that and just deal with it for the time being. There is an end to it, it is a temporary thing.
Just chill out, drive safely and plan for the traffic so you won't be in such a hurry you're speeding and risking your life and the peoples lives around you. | | Ppppppbbbbbbssssssssssttttttttt!

In my opinion, 65-70 is more than appropriate. There are people who go slower than that and that is dangerous, I see people going ridiculously faster than that and that too is dangerous. Someone mentioned the time difference of speeding 80 and how much time it saves...excellent point. Just do the dang speed limit and don't tailgate and every stands a better chance of being safe. How hard is this?

Alert | | I don't mind people who want to go between 60-80 but move over, SLOW TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT! You only piss people off when you go the same speed as the car next to you and hold up traffic.
