Alert | | I haven't seen any mention of windshields being cracked and/or nicked while going over SF347. It seems no matter how fast or slow you go, some idiot (venting roadrage here) is going to pass you and when they cut back in front of you, they are too close to the front of your car and rocks start flying into your windshield, and also nicking the paint on the front of your car. The speed limit in 99% of the construction area is 45 MPH, and no matter what your speed is, someone is going to pass you. I'm trying to hold out replacing the windshield until construction is over, the dings, nicks, and cracks are accumulating too fast. Is anyone else bothered by this, or do they have a invisible shield that fends these rocks off?

Alert | This has been discussed several times but it is understandable and easy to miss. The summary of the situation is:
- It has nothing to do with people cutting in front of you. Every single one of my 20+ chips and cracks came when no one made a lane change. - More than half came at less than 45 MPH. - Unless there is actual construction (with real speed limit signs), the speed limit is 65. Those little orange ones attached to the "loose gravel" signs don't count. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | It's nice to see "facetiousness" is alive and well in Maricopa. Cars and trucks that allow 3 and 4 car lengths before cutting back in front of you don't usually spit rocks from their tires far enough to bother you. As far as speed limit signs are concerned, no one pays any attention to any signs no matter what they say. When was the last time anyone drove 45 MPH or less on 347, except when they were caught in some of the big traffic slow-ups we've had in the past few weeks?

Alert | Facetious nothing. I was completely serious. I have been hit with rocks coming up from cars that are 5 seconds in front of me. In fact that's usually when it happens!
I did end up going 35 the other day when it was narrowed to one lane. That's all the faster the people in front of me were going. Guess what? I got hit with not one, but two rocks! So I guess that blows your theory of someone speeding and cutting in front causing all of the damage. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | No matter what you do... You always will have the "PING" danger... The wife had two shields replaced and that was just from I-10 rock damage.
so far...(knock on wood) I haven't recieved a Rock ding in the shield (low profile car)... but the front bumper of my car is shot to heck!!! I have a hudge gash on the right front bumper. | | Just doing it one day at a time. Alert | | Why would you want to spend money protecting the headlamps when they're already covered by insurance glass coverage? | | Joined: Jul 2005

No, I saw it and understand it. That's why I didn't comment on it. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

Thought headlamps being covered under glass was a universal thing. Guess not. | | Joined: Jul 2005
