I just got my registration done for 2 years at the little place on Casa Grande highway.
Smog was NOT required because 85238 zip is too new in the system. If I was in 85239 it would have been required.
If you need to register soon, do it now.

My understanding is that it is Pinal County and you don't have to have emmission testing done at all IF you can provide proof that you eighter do not drive in maricopa county or 2 provide proof that you have a registered second vech that is your primary source of transportation.

According to the person at the MVD, if I lived in 85239, I would have needed a smog cert. She even started to hand me one, but her system did not require it, due to the specific zip that is too new to be in the system.
At least, that is what I was told by the person that works for the MVD.

The person at MVD is an idiot.
This is an old problem with MVD and Maricopa. The problem lies in two cities with the same zip code - Maricopa which is located in Pinal County and does not require emission testing... and Mobile which is located in Maricopa County and requires emission testing.

If you live in Maricopa and they say you need emission testing have them physically check your address and change it in the computer. Yes, it means they will have to work. Now if you commute to Maricopa County - you do need emission testing.

It's a load of crap I tell ya.. Why do I have to prove to anyone where I work? They should have to prove it to me in order to make me take a smog test...

..AND.. so what if someone works in MC and resides in PC ?? What if you can prove that you carpool or take the shuttle?

It's all about ADEQ getting the $$$

I agree with you AZ, I have to have my car tested because I travel to MC for work, however because my husband has a company vehicle he can drive his foul vehicle around w/o an inspection because he uses it as a recreation vehicle

you are correct Fritzydoodle, I just looked it up again on the MVD site. If you have 2 cars and you comute to MC then you have to have one tested the other could be exempt.
