Print this out and keep it in your car for future use! This is directions to Maricopa - reverse the route to leave.

Ways In and Out of Maricopa
Mileage is estimated. From about the time you pass Chandler Blvd to just before Casa Grande you are on the Gila River Indian Community. You are subject to tribal rules, regulations, laws and jurisdiction at all time. DO NOT ATTEMPT DIRT ROAD SHORTCUTS. You are trespassing on tribal property and subject to tribal prosecution.

Primary route from Phoenix:
I-10 to Exit 164 – Queen Creek Road
Turn west approx 16 miles to Maricopa

Alternates:
I-10 to Riggs Road Exit #167
Turn right heading north to SR347 Maricopa Road
Turn left to Maricopa approx 13 miles
***********************************
I-10 to Casablanca Road Exit #175 (also known as the beginning of SR587 and BIA-1)

Turn right and closely follow signage direction thru the semi-cloverleaf. You should go past the cultural center on your right. Otherwise you are heading to Chandler or Casa Grande – turn around and go back.
Stay on Casablanca westbound until you reach SR347, Maricopa Road, approx 10 miles. Turn left to Maricopa. (Pay attention to speed signs to avoid a ticket! Watch for horses and cattle – the road is not fenced off.)
***********************************
To take Casablanca to Murphy Road to either Honeycutt Rd or Maricopa/CG Hwy:

Take Casablanca Road west to Murphy Road. I don’t know if the street sign is back up. It’s a dirt road past Gophers Road. There is a small church about a ¼ mile south on Murphy Road on the west side as a roadmark. IT IS ROUGH in spots – go slowly and carefully! It’s about 7 miles to Mar/CG Hwy. Turn right and it’s about 10 miles to Maricopa. The pavement begins at the VW test facility. Honeycutt Road is about 4 miles from Casablanca and is marked.
***********************************
Via Casa Grande:

I-10 to Pinal Avenue (Casa Grande) Exit #185
Turn right to Val Vista Road approx 2 miles.
Turn right on Val Vista to Maricopa/CG Hwy
Turn right on Mar/CG Hwy to SR347 (Maricopa Road).

If you need gas, stay on Pinal Avenue into Casa Grande. Take Cottonwood Lane (it becomes the Maricopa/CG Hwy) west approx 23 miles to Maricopa.

Here are a few really weird but sometimes necessary alternatives.
A backway into Casa Grande off I-10
If I-10 is closed eastbound after Casablanca – exit Casablanca Road. Follow the weird cloverleaf to BIA-1 east heading to Sacaton about 4 miles. It ends at Sacaton Road. Turn right and follow Sacaton Road to BIA-7 Turn right – you are now on Casa Grande Highway for about 3 miles. It joins SR187. Keep heading south about 2 miles, you are heading to Pinal Avenue in Casa Grande. Follow the directions for Val Vista from there.

If I-10 is closed heading into Phoenix, you can take Casablanca to Sacaton like about and instead of turning right on Sacaton Road, turn left. It takes you to SR87. Stay on SR87 and you’ll end up at the corner of Arizona Ave and the Hunt Hwy in Chandler.
Again follow the speed signs (you’ll be doing 35 in the middle of nowhere – just do it) and don’t go off the marked roadways or risk a ticket.

****************************
If Mar/CG Hwy is closed for flooding at Murphy Road and you need to take a more southerly route into Maricopa, take Hwy 84. Do not attempt any of the North/South roads between 84 and Mar/CG Hwy. They all have a BIG dip at the Santa Cruz or Santa Rosa Wash depending on which road you choose. The wash will be several FEET deep when running and very dangerous. DO NOT CROSS when water is running.

To take Hwy 84 to Maricopa
I-10 to Exit #194 (Florence Blvd).
Go through Casa Grande to Pinal Ave. Keep going straight – that is Hwy 84. It takes you through Stanfield. Keep going approx 16 miles.
Turn right on SR347. It’s about 11 miles from Hwy 84 to the train tracks. If you miss the turnoff to SR347 you will run into I-8.

Thank you Jason for covering my 6!

Yeah - all those disclaimers he said! Plus whatever else we haven't thought of yet.

I've also taken Power Road which is off of Casablanca (last road before 347) down to Smith Einke. I think it is on the Reservation but I didn't see any signs. I tried to take Murphy but turned around because there were signs that said "no trespassing"

Anyone else taken Power Road which turns into White and Parker?

I didn't think the two connected. Kind of a dog-leg jog if I remember.

It connects. You just have to cross over the wash and you'll come out on Smith Einke. There are a few dirt bridges you can cross over. The road is dirt but it's not too bad. I tried to take it last Saturday when the 347 was closed because of the accident but the police were blocking the road and turning people around.

The same way we did when we moved here back in the day... drive around lost and see where you end up!

Actually I have a built in sense of direction. Drives my DH nuts. Drive me around in endless circles blindfolded and I can still tell you which way is NNE.

Let us know what you find out! I've never gotten a straight answer. It depends on who you ask.

Is this a trick question? Yes, just get on I-10 south, exit at Queen Creek and head east on 347. Go ~15 miles on 347 and you'll be in Maricopa.

Techically - yes. But you are on dirt roads and / or cowpaths on the Gila River Indian Community and trespassing.

The route you are referring to is Loop 202 and would connect to Beltline Road (51st Ave). Feuds are ongoing and not expected in our lifetimes.

*BUMP*
I just want to say THANK YOU MZ. FRITZYDOODLE!!!
I have had to use the Val Vista route 2 times already this week! Once on my way into work, the other was last night on my way home! [UGHHHH, grumble, grumble!!] Can Maricopan drivers slow the hell down! I am glad I drove the extra 25+ miles extra, at least I wasn't sitting in traffic. Anyhow. It doesn't help either when DPS has Casa Blanca closed for paving either
Anyways. Thanks again for the directions, it did help, and it is not that bad, even in the dust/evening hours.

Firebirds, to answer your question without insulting you, No. I believe you are thinking of the dirt road from the end of Pecos to Beltline. It is blocked off and is considered trespassing if you find a way through.

Sorry for Jason, he has trouble getting his crayons to color outside the lines.
