2 lanes driving at 65 mph will flow a lot more traffic then 1 lane going 65 and 1 lane with a few people going 80 to 90...

I just don't know how else to explain it. Traffic will not flow smoothly when all the lanes are traveling in lockstep. It is a proven fact, just watch some videos of the Autobahn on YouTube (sorry anewman, I had to bring in the Autobahn, because it's guaranteed that you'll hit a video of good driving behavior illustrating my point).

No, I do not believe that no one will be swayed on the forum.

All that him and I are asking for are for people to quit blocking traffic in so that all traffic can flow more smoothly. I personally don't like someone glued to my bumper that wants to go 85, just because some type A personality leading the line wants to pace the car in the right lane while going 5 under the limit. There is no selfishness in asking people to follow proven safe driving techniques. There are more techniques than just following the speed limit you know.

if they are going 5 under...i see it as reasonable to expect them to stay to the right...but if they are doing 65 or 64 for argument sake...let them do it in the left lane...im fine with that...and the yahoos going 85 or 90 can pass them on the right if they have to

"It is a sad day when intelligent thought is considered moronic, and blind following is not moronic."

If it is considered to be blind by obeying the laws, SO BE IT! YOur comments don't sound so well thought out (read: intelligent) to me.

I'd LOVE to hear you try to justify your lame behavior to the Officer who pulls you over for an infraction. The Officer will be laughing his a** off and writing you up for 9 OTHER infractions all because of your "know it all attitude" and mouth! You will be the butt of the joke and your situation will repeated MANY times for the entertainment of the other Officers! You will have no credibility and be nothing more then the local JOKE!

I will continue to driver 65-70 in the "left" lane. IF that is not fast enough for you, why don't you just suck on the end of your tailpipe while the car is running, and do us ALL a big favor!

You're just not getting it. These yahoos going near the speed limit are pacing cars in the right lane. No one can get around. Why is no one outraged at the fact that this could hold up an emergency vehicle, such as an ambulance? Every second counts!

WHY? Don't they have red/blue lights on top???
Hummm, seems to me they'd look different to ANY driver.

One......more......time. If there is a line of cars 1 mile long, taking up both lanes because someone up front is on a power trip, and an ambulance approaches from the rear, does the blockade clear immediately?

Well I did a little searching- seems that famous autobahn has some traffic issues too.

Sorry Jason but you know how I hate when this road is brought up!

These are pretty long so if you watch the whole thing you have no life!!

*sigh* Yes, I know that the Autobahn has its issues, BUT it is a great example of what happens when people follow proper lane discipline. I referenced it when someone tried to claim that proper lane discipline would cause worse traffic, not better. So, thank you for the videos, but they've got nothing to do with the point I was making.

So they don't argue that one point of yours- they show enough that it needs to stop being used as the holy grail of driving.

It shows that even on the Autobahn people do not follow the lane discipline even though you can be cited for it. In Germany it is the law - here it is just recommended.

The clips show the same issues that you and others love to discuss and rant about on a daily basis. It may be safer out in the rural areas but anywhere close to a city it suffers from the same things we do.

All of the clips that prove your point are useless because there is nowhere near the traffic on the autobahn that is on the 347. Go ahead - prove me wrong.

Lets make sure we compare Oranges to Oranges.

Besides I do not trust these people driving 80 mph let alone over 100. I'll take the 65mph even if someone is holding it up- it is still 40+mph faster than the freeways in town.

So you have a few clips of accidents on the Autobahn and suddenly it's not one of the safest roads in the world? What kind of reasoning is that?

Yes, I am aware that the Autobahn is not driving paradise, but you'd be hard pressed to not to admit, driving is better over there. Is it so wrong of me to try to introduce these people to one of the concepts of civilized driving, by bringing in the best example available?

We've drifted far away from my point, which was that keeping right except to pass is a good practice, and you can find proof of that in one of the safest roads on the planet. There, I didn't use the A-word, happy?

I wouldn't take 65 either though, because everyone packs in. That's a recipe for a huge pileup.

JASON...if emergency vehicles need to get by...they can drive on the shoulder like they do every other road....so your argument holds no water about two cars driving 65 next to each other...in my opinion

Please let me know if there is anything other than the "me, me, me" mentality that isn't to blame for the drive-tards who pace the right-lane traffic?

Ok, so no one has answered the question yet.. just more of the same 'ol "I can pace people because no one else should be going faster than me, me, me"

I like how everyone automatically assumes me and Jason do 150mph down the 347... lol.. I know I don't..

How hard is it to get through to you left-lane-lounge-tards? It has NOTHING to do with speeding, speeders, or what YOU determine is right for everyone else to do... It's as simple as DRIVING COURTESY.. period.. Other than the "me, me, me" attitude, there's NO REASON why someone cannot yield (move right) and allow another driver to pass..

I do 70-75mph on the 347 (I know, what a dangerous speeder I am).. I keep right.. If I'm passing a vehicle and someone comes on my six who's going faster.. I pull right, let them pass, then continue.. how hard is that? I don't feel a loss to my ego.. I don't feel like "they got one over on me", etc.. It's just driver courtesy..

Here's some reasons to block traffic:

1. You were the kid everyone picked on in school... somehow you feel vindicated whenever you have some behind you and you control whether or not they can get by..

2. You're a closet homosexual and you enjoy men riding your arse?

3. You failed the test to become a PO and feel it is your responsibility to do what you can to be a public enforcer..

4. Somehow, when people go faster than you, you feel as if you are a failure in life...

5. You drive a craptacular car and feel that no one who drives a nicer one should be in front of you..

6. You drive a ginormous domestic truck with a 6' lift kit and feel that you are letting America down by letting that guy in the Nissan Sentra get past you...

7. You're just oblivious to the world around you and really shouldn't possess a driver's license.. or breed either..

Just my observations..

They will not do that, because of the extreme risk. The shoulder may have debris, broken down cars, and they may find that someone actually does what they're supposed to and pulls over. The ambulance, for safety reasons, will wait for traffic to clear.

I am not saying it is not one of the safest roads in the world however it is not just the road it is the laws, regulations, and requiremnents just to have a license in that country that have as much to do with it as anything else.

So- If you really want to make a change guess how that needs to happen? That is right - more laws- more legislation- more money for drivers training and enforcement.

YOU- are not going to change the way people drive. It is up to all of us to drive in the most courteous and safest manner.

I agree with the right except to pass and follow it- but come on man- this is getting old!!
