** If 2 cars are driving 65 in a posted 65 zone then they are not driving LESS then a
reasonable and prudent speed. Just as you said 65 is most certainly reasonable and prudent 99% of the time. So this law is not being broken.

I had thought you didn't think there was such a thing as minimum speed.

** With this law you need to pay attention to the key phrase "normal and reasonable movement of traffic " If 85 % of traffic is driving at 65 to 70 (which is a reasonable and prudent speed) and 15% is driving 80 to 90 why would you think your 15% of traffic makes up the normal and reasonable movement of traffic? Its simple math 85% > 15%. Also pay attention to the last 4 words of the law, IN COMPLIANCE WITH LAW, if you get a ticket (which means you broke a traffic law) for speeding why would you think it is in compliance
with the law???

85% of the traffic doesn't go 65. Notice also that it says "necessary". When two lanes are available, it is not necessary to for two cars to travel side by side at 65.

I also do not like your assumption that I'm in the 15%. You should not assume.

** So Jason in fact not one law would be broken under the conditions described above.
The laws you qouted are for vehicles that are driving much slower then the normal rate of traffic like doing 40 in a 65. These vehicles are obstacles that cause unsafe driving conditons.

This is not true. I was pulled over for going the speed limit on US 60 in the left lane. I can assure you that on multilane highways, if you are impeding the flow of traffic, you are required to get out of the way.

Hate to break it to you, but conditions most certainly permit the lead blocking car to get out of the way. It's as simple as putting on your turn signal and speeding up or slowing down and moving over.

** Also for your comment about IMPEDING EMERGENCY VEHICLES, There is a reason they
have lights and sirens and remember when they are in use you pull off to the side of the road to
allow them to pass

You didn't read what I said. I said impede, not block. A 1/2-1 mile line of cars blocked in by two people going 65 is slowing the emergency vehicle down. If you cannot realize that, maybe you shouldn't have a license?

SW4OVE I could not have said it better. I like morons like Jason who justify breaking 1 law by citing other laws.

Reading comprehension, it's a wonderful thing. I did not justify breaking any laws, I am trying to get people to see that two cars blocking traffic, no matter how fast or slowly they are going, is illegal. Nothing more, nothing less.

And I like people that think that because something is law it is always right. Reminds me of prohibition. Enough people stood up to the laws that the laws were changed. We could only hope for something like this to happen in Maricopa.

Well I guess the morons that think 65mph is too slow for 347 know more then the poeple who set the speed limits on the roads.

Jason why would you think I didn't think there was such a thing as minimum speed.

And also Jason you over looked the fact that in my post I stated "not one law would be broken UNDER THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE" I am refering to times of congestion on our 2 lane State Route that is why I said during our rush hours. If it is in the middle of the day or late at night and there is very little traffic then yes people please stay in the right hand lane. As for your example I am sorry you got a ticket but the US60 is also a
5 lane highway not a 2 lane and chances are there were existing conditions for you to be the right most lane. It must be me but when I drive to and from work both lanes are
always full of traffic.

*** Please keep in mind I am only refering to rush hours and times of congestion not all the time, if you notice most of the complaints on here happen during these times and not the
middle of the day or night ***

I regularly travel it during rush hour and yes, there is still a leader to the pack. Often times that leader is going 55 or 60, not 65. That would mean they're breaking two laws. There is not a solid stretch of cars between I-10 and Maricopa. Someone is leading the pack and someone is usually blocking traffic.

How exactly, considering 347 never turns into a solid block of traffic like I-10...?

This ought to be interesting

Gotcha Jason... I laughed at the fact that MaricopaMouth stated the he has been to driving class twice (meaning he is probly not a very credible (or at least in the past becuase people can learn) telling people the laws of the road. I take it as if you personally can not follow the rules of the road then you shouldnt be telling people how to drive.

And yes there is NOT a solid line of car from Maricopa to I10 but it is congested. Are you sugesting people start speeding? Or does everyone have to drive in the right lane unless they are passing? Where would you suggest the majority of commuters drive since we are not permitted in the left lane except to pass? HMM I guess that makes SR347 a one lane State Route with a passing lane to the left!!!!

That's poor reasoning. Besides the reason you gave, they may willfully chose to not follow the letter of the law (but follow in spirit), they may have been wrongfully issued a ticket, etc.

Yes, unless you are passing, you should be in the right lane. Works wonders everywhere else that uses it and traffic flows exceptionally smoothly on 347 when people happen to follow it.

Please let me know if there is anything other than the "me, me, me" mentality that isn't to blame for the drive-tards who pace the right-lane traffic?

How hard is it to move to the right people? It isn't.. it's just another selfish "me, me, me" attitude... period..

reminds me of all the nerds who got picked on from the jocks in High School.. I can read your minds as you're lounging in the left lane.. "I'll show you Biff! You won't get past me! I don't care if you drive a Bimmer.. My Escort will RULE JOO!"

Sooner or later, most rational people start realizing that the "keep right unless passing" mentality actually IMPROVES your commute.. The other people remain mentally challenged and grow to become that 10% of society that people want to forget...

Jason, get over yourself!
Are you an Attorney or a Sworn officer?
Probably not, so, cease interpreting the law to suit your purpose on this site!

Slow traffic is defined as anyone not traveling the posted speed limit, period.

OK NO ONE IN MARICOPA CAN DRIVE IN THE LEFT LANE UNLESS YOU ARE PASSING BECAUSE JASON SAID SO !!!!

Now Jason and or AzSandSlinger you seem to be pretty set in beleiving that people on here only complain and have me me me attitudes. if this is the case why would you want everyone to drive only in the right lane so the minority can fly to work? Its only logical that more cars can travel to a given location faster with more lanes to travel on (why do you think they make multi lane roads... the more lanes on a roadway the more cars can travel on it. Its the same with the check out lanes in a grocery store, lines to get in to a movie or a football game. what would happen if Frys only had 1 lane for every one... congestion !! You guys are crying because the majority of Maricopa are abidding to the laws of the road.... read back threw your post your are upset because people are not driving fast enough for your own personal needs (me me me attiude) they are not driving ridiculously slow they are drivng the speed LIMIT.
2 lanes driving at 65 mph will flow a lot more traffic then 1 lane going 65 and 1 lane with a few people going 80 to 90...

And Jason seeing as you like to pull qoutes for everything here is one.

YAAWWNN!!!

These pointless conversations still going?

There are idiot drivers among us: some drive in the left lane- some drive to fast- some block traffic.

Guess what- this forum isn't going to change that!!!
