Does anyone think, due to the bad accident on 347 this weekend, that not only killed 2 people, but one of them killed was a police officer...does anyone think that maybe now the powers that be, will find it neccessary to actually patrol the 347 more than just at the end of the month? I could be wrong, but it seems the only time we ever see a real presence on that road is when it's the end of the month, then on our way to work, we'll see maybe 4 cops on the road, otherwise, we're lucky if we see 1 car and that's not always the case.

Im just wondering, this is the first time I recall hearing about an accident on 347 that made the news. Of all the accidents that took place, I never heard any of them on the news where they reported people were killed. Im just thinking, maybe, since a cop was killed, maybe now, someone will pay attention and realize, that road does have issues.

They always say with tragedy comes goodness so Im just wondering if maybe the officer's death might be the final wake up call needed for everyone to realize, 347 is a horrible road with drivers who just don't care...maybe it's time to do something about it?

I don't mean just figuring an alternative route, but actually having DPS or whoever actally patrol the road.

It's coming .. don't you worry about it..

They are going to have a field day with the 347....

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I'm sick and tired of hearing 347 is "horrible" and "dangerous". Do you have any reason to suggest this or is this just a knee-jerk description based on one horrible accident? By comparison, 347 is probably one of the safer highways around here. Everything seems worse, because we only have one route in and out, but that is no reason to say that the road is "horrible". I've witnessed far worse on I-10 and I-17.

I'm thinking that this police officer was probably falling asleep at the wheel following a long shift. Speed - unknown, Toxicology - unknown, Truth - unknown.

He probably drifted into the median and overcompensated when he woke up. It's sad for both men and their families. Prayers have been said.

I do not believe that this accident had anything to do with road conditions, or crazy drivers.

An increased presence would be nice. However, if people would just leave early enough, they would not have to drive stupid.

Again, so sorry for the families of these 2 men.

Math question:
If suzy and 'Johnny death racer' both leave Headquarters at 8:00am and head north on the 347 with Suzy going 65MPH and JDH going 90, what time do each arrive at the I-10, 16 miles away?
Is this difference enough to justify killing or dying for?
Let's, for fun, say that both hit the light at Riggs, now what is the time difference?

Did they leave the Headquarters after drinks, or breakfast? Could make a difference.

They're going to be severely late, since they probably totaled their cars crashing into the light.

Or: Johnny will arrive and Suzy won't, because Johnny was concentrating on his driving while Suzy was applying her makeup causing her to cross the median. Your question is slanted, thinking that the driver going 90 is automatically less safe.
