No. Even among rear-end accidents, there can be mechanical failure, the driver could have a medical situation (such as a seizure, blackout, low blood sugar, etc.), someone could have done a swoop and stomp, and...here's one for you: an SUV could be blocking the view of a passenger car following at a safe distance and then the SUV could move out of the lane at the very last moment, leaving the passenger car approaching stopped traffic at a very high speed (it is for this very reason that I do not like following large vehicles and will do everything possible to pass them).
And that's just rear-end accidents. If you consider someone pulling out from a side street (or any number of other situations), then there are a myriad of other possibilities.
As much as everyone would like to blame one person for an accident, sometimes there's no one to blame. We don't have enough details to say that it was a simple case of not paying enough attention. |
