Alert | Does anyone have any idea why the Maricopa-CG Highway was closed this morning?
I take this route every day and have not seen any signing to indicate that this would be closed? I didn't think we got that much rain this weekend...
This cost me 30 minutes today between this and the accident at Rancho El Dorado to get to Casa Blanca....

Alert | | I don't know about this morning, but I know that yesterday morning the wash was flooded, so I would imagine that it was still flooded today.

Alert | | The road was closed because of the wash. There was some accident in the wash (with a car) and I am thinking that maybe that may have something to do with it. Also, when there is alot of water in some of the other washes it somehow seems to send it to that one. It has actually been pretty good this summer without having to close the road. I remember last summer it was closed all the time. Just had to drive around through the reservation. Now, since Honeycutt goes all the way through that is where they were detouring traffic. It sucks, luckily I don't have to do it EVERY day.

Alert | It's still closed, and if the past few years are any indication, it will be closed for the next week or two.
The reason is that there is a low spot in the highway near Murphy Road which becomes an active river during monsoon season. We may not have had much rain here, but the flow actually comes from Tucson. So if they're having a rainy few days, we can figure the water will show up soon enough, and the road will be closed. Three years ago (or was it two years ago?) the road was closed for almost an entire month.
Making matters worse is the fact that Honeycutt (the alternate route) floods in portions as well. So if you'd like to get to Casa Grande, you might want to consider leaving 25 minutes early and going the long way, via 347 to 84. : )

Alert | | It was open last night when I went through BUT there was about an inch of water flowing. They had signs indicating Road Flooded but at least it was open!
