Alert | I had a nice double chip before construction started but knew there was no point in getting it replaced at that time.
Shortly after the Southbound lane was torn up I received the 3rd chip in the glass.
Then today driving home enjoying the smooth asphalt someone merged over from the torn up lane to the smooth one and wouldn't you know it!! Another double chip!!!
WOO WHOO!!! I got 5 already and still have weeks to go.
I am going to see what constelation I can make when the construction is done.
So-- anyone have more than 5??? | | "The jouney of life is as much in oneself' as the roads one travels"

Alert | Who has the most chips? *Raises Hand* I do! I do!
My car has gotten trashed from the 347 after they started the repaving. Some jerk was flying down the torn up lane on Monday and passed me. I now have 10 paint chips in my hood (one of which is accompanied by a dent), and a small rock chip on the bottom of my windshield. Thanks.

This is a windows only chip thread. You will have to start another one for paint chips. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

What the heck are you driving- the Pope mobile??
You have more lanes on your windshield than the 347. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/laugh.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Laugh' align='absmiddle'> | | "The jouney of life is as much in oneself' as the roads one travels"

Alert | Ok after posting here yesterday I had to drive to Mesa today. On the way home I got a new chip. That makes 2 chips in two trips.
To make matters worse the about 10 minutes after the chip I heard a weird pop and now I have a crack. It is about 10 inches long and cuts right thought the drivers view. GREAT! THANKS ADOT!
I called to see how much for a new windshield. It’s a brand new car and brand new model so it’s a "dealer only install".
So now that I have to spend an arm and leg to get my windshield replaced and can’t even get a free box of steaks I have written a letter of "thanks" to ADOT that was e-mailed a few minutes ago!

Alert | | I think I win so far! I have one crack from a couple weeks ago. Good thing I didn't get it replaced because on the way to work today I got 5 chips and on the way home 1 more! So I have a total of 7!!! Pretty soon I'm not going to be able to see through all the chips and cracks. No point in getting it replaced now though!

Alert | Curiosity got the better of me and I counted (I knew I didn't want to know). I counted 12, but my windshield needs to be washed, so there could be more that I didn't count.
I still think ADOT is doing a good job though - they can't clear off all the rocks. I'll just get the cracks filled and deal with replacement if necessary once the road work is finished.

Alert | | I have 3 chips. The third happened yesterday. Today it turned into a crack. Right across on the driver side of my windshield. Now I understand why State Farm offered me windshield replacement coverage. I'm glad I signed up for it! | | Remind me again why I left So. Calif. for this? Ok, Ok, Maricopa IS growing on me now. Where is the mall and movie theatres the builder promised me still? And my windshield gets chipped whenever I try to leave!

Alert | I called my insurance company to find out how much the windshield replacement coverage is - it's over $500/6 months! NO WAY! I'd have to have at least 4 broken windshields a year to make it worthwhile! The rest of the cost of my coverage is great, but they know that windshields get broken quite a bit in AZ, so the rates are high. When I said no thanks and gave her the approx price I got from a windshield replacement company, she agreed that it probably wasn't in my best interest to get the coverage. She actually said she was surprised how many people paid for the coverage consider the cost for it around here.
Chances are I'll have to replace my windshield by the time the road work is done, but the less than $300 to pay cash is less than the $500+ to get the coverage.

Are you sure that wasn't your total cost of insurance including glass coverage for 6 months. That seems pretty high- my total insurance for full coverage and glass is only a little more than that. My glass coverage was like a $25 add on- if that!!
You might want to start shopping around for a new carrier.

Alert | I have 3 small chips in my windshield that I had before I even moved to Maricopa. I drive the 347 every day and never get hit. Maybe it's because I'm the only one driving in the milled lane
I like the milled lane because 1: no one else drives in it, 2: i don't get hit by the rocks that the people that would drive it would hit me with, and 3: it makes my whole car vibrate! | | I'm moving back to civilization on 9/1!!
