We had our windshield replaced 6 months ago; it was caused by a rock from a dump truck. Yesterday, we got 1 crack traveling North on 347 while we were traveling to Tempe. On the way home, we got another crack while traveling on 347 south. Even though we have full glass coverage, insurance companies do keep track of every single thing they pay out on. My Allstate agent in NY had shown me a list of every claim I ever made over a 10 year period. I wonder if those drivers who are speeding on the right side of the road realize they are kicking up all those rocks and the damage they are causing.
It depends on the company. I've got American Family and usually have to replace the windshield 2-3 times per year. No matter how many times we replace it, they don't raise the rates. | | Joined: Jul 2005

But then this thread would be named...Thanks for making my commute an extra 2 hours, road construction is a necessary evil. I have a couple chips just going to wait till ADOT is done to fix it.</div>
you couldn't be more right, the lane was rough everyone complained they shut the lanes down to rebuild them, everyone complains they open the lanes up, everyone complains.
can ADOT win? maybe they should build the road on the moon then just set it in place on a sunday night.

Alert | | Yeah, I got a lil chip on Saturday going north from a white honda odysey(sp). I did the wrong thing (he he he) and got ahead of them and pulled over to share the love. I'm sure they got a couple because they slowed way down and stayed way back. I've got replacement insurance (as everybody should out here) and am looking forward to some free dinners on the windshield company

Alert | Insurance companies cannot increase your rates for accidents "not caused or significantly contributed by the insurer".. (i.e. windshield replacements)... It's AZ Law..
However, they aren't obliged to renew you either..

Alert | | I know they can't raise your rates. However, when it comes time for renewal, they do look at the number of claims you have had over the years, including windshield replacements. And, it is not limited to the last 3 years.

Alert | | My insurance company is just used to it. I had to replace 3 windshields in the span of 2 months in March/April. I gave them the license plate of the idiot who didn't cover his trailer full of rocks, but the insurance company didn't care. They quoted the insurance law in Arizona that says they cannot do anything. They have never hassled me. We go through no less than 4-6 windshields a year between the three vehicles. The worst one was last March I was going from the Santan to the 101 and a giant rock came off another truck above me on another ramp and cracked the windshield. The size of the rock scared me to death. Yes, it's worse with the 347 the way it is, but it happens everwhere and mostly because of the construction vehicles.

Alert | After you get your windshield replaced...quick, run it by your insurance agent, have them look at it to be sure it's intact and have them sign you up for the total glass coverage.

Alert | we have full glass coverage, and since moving to 'copa about 2 years ago, it has come in handy many times. however, hubby got a crack on the 347 yesterday in his company vehicle, and the company won't pay for it! | | If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

He didn't say when he called me this morning. I"m not paying for it out of pocket, and I see no reason to bother my insurance with it either. His company pays for the car entirely: gas, insurance, maintenence, etc. I can't imagine they don't have full glass coverage on the 300+ vehicles that they own/operate! We are talking a big company too, not a mom and pop thing! | | If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

Alert | Road construction happens. Holy cow. Get full glass coverage. I have had it for the 4 years we have been in AZ, I have had 5 replacements & my husband had 4. Rocks kick up. We pass the Rinker plant. We live in an area of construction. Rocks kick up. But, its a CAR. Cars get dinged. Paint jobs get chipped. Yea, I'm bummed that I have a bunch of dings all over the front of my car, but oh well- not a lot I can do about it- its called 'wear and tear!'
Get full glass coverage. Its the best thing we ever did. | | Formerly known as 'greytxracers' "My greyhound is smarter than your honor student"
