I just wanted to drop a note to whoever is responsible for the construction on the 347 for my broken windshield. I'm impressed. It only took driving down that road once to recieve my first rock chip/crack. I don't blame the guy who was driving the trailer in the right lane that kicked up the rock. I in fact blame A.D.O.T. for doing a piss poor job of cleaning off the ground down area on the 347 before allowing traffic to drive on it again. I guess that I should just thank my lucky stars that I wasn't on the bike, because a rock that size could have really hurt me. Soooooo, who else out there has had a windshield cracked/broken since ADOT decided to grind down the right lane and then allow traffic on it?

do you expect them to completely shut down the higway and use a push broom to make sure no rocks got away?

rock chips are a risk you take driving on any road.

I've lived in Maricopa for almost 2 years. I have replaced my windshield 2 times and have another large chip that will require a 3rd replacement.

None of these came from the recent construction- there has always been rocks on 347 and I-10 due to construction of houses. It comes with living in a growing area.

You are lucky if you are just now having to replace a windshield.

They used a street swepper- what more do you want? Divert all the cement, trash, and dump trucks for you too??

I just bought a new car and I am having upgrades, so it's not ready yet. In the meantime they gave me a loaner car. I got hit a few days ago with someone speeding in the left lane and was kicking up all kinds of rocks and one made a whole in the windshield that spidered up. They fixed it and today I got another one with someone speeding in the right lane leaving this morning. Now this crack is worse than the last. Now the dealership is upset to say the least and said they do not want to keep replacing windshields; since this is the 2nd one in a week. It's not my fault and I have no clue what to do.

I had a chip in mine before the construction started and now sport three Special Edition 347 Chips - '07 versions.

I'll wait another month before replacing my windshield, I'm going to try for the whole set!

We had our windshield replaced 6 months ago; it was caused by a rock from a dump truck.
Yesterday, we got 1 crack traveling North on 347 while we were traveling to Tempe.
On the way home, we got another crack while traveling on 347 south.
Even though we have full glass coverage, insurance companies do keep track of every single thing they pay out on. My Allstate agent in NY had shown me a list of every claim I ever made over a 10 year period.
I wonder if those drivers who are speeding on the right side of the road realize they are kicking up all those rocks and the damage they are causing.

Thank You to the moron this morning in the navy blue, older, 4 door BMW driving in the right lane this morning. I purposely left at 5:40ish this morning to avoid the freakin traffic because stinkin ADOT decided to tear up the northbound side (NOT ACCORDING TO THE PLAN THEY TOLD US AT THE MEETING...GRRRR!!), anyhow. This jackaye is hauling butt down the right lane and kicks up rocks into my windshield. Now I get to sport the Maricopa 347 chips, times 2! I tried to follow this person, but he/she was driving so fast, I could not keep up. And I didn't want to get into the right lane to kick rocks into someone else's windshield. Trust me, I will get a license number if I see this car tomorrow. I can understand why people would use that lane, but don't be driving on the ripped up side doing 80+ miles per hour. I won't be replacing my windshield just yet. I might as well wait to see what other idiots are going to throw rocks up into my car. I just hope I don't get one of those cracks that run all the way across my windshield before this 347 repair is done.

They should have just kept those lanes closed.

But then this thread would be named...Thanks for making my commute an extra 2 hours, road construction is a necessary evil. I have a couple chips just going to wait till ADOT is done to fix it.
