If dense dust is observed blowing across or approaching a roadway, pull your vehicle off the pavement as far as possible, stop, turn off lights, set the emergency brake, take your foot off of the brake pedal to be sure the tail lights are not illuminated.
Don't enter the dust storm area if you can avoid it.
If you can't pull off the roadway, proceed at a speed suitable for visibility, turn on lights and sound horn occasionally. Use the painted center line to help guide you. Look for a safe place to pull off the roadway.
Never stop on the traveled portion of the roadway.

Thank you!

I prefer to put the pedal to the metal and beat the storm.

Well, that's easy!!! Especially if you own a silver hatchback (Mazda or Hyundai me thinks). You go to the shoulder at 80MPH (multiple times) and pass. I watched it driving in this morning, and all I could think was "Dear Lord, please let him try pulling in front of me from the shoulder. I swear that I'll come to the confessional as soon as I explain to the police that I never saw him coming from the right. And that I sure hope he had full coverage!!"

AMEN

***official stop by***

I have read and understood the posting on this thread and have nothing to add.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Seriously though, as long as you have about 5-10 seconds of visibility, you're good to go.

i would love to see the drivers out here stuck in a good ole pennsylvania nor'easter. snow falling so fast you can't see past the hood and it feels like your driving on a slip and slide

Had been in a snow storm so bad that the snow actually blew in through the seals in the car doors....had to dig it all out of the interior to drive the next morning... that sucked.

I got stuck in one the other day. It seemed too dangerous to just pull over - no one else did. I didn't want to be the one to get hit! In a strange uniform way, we all drove slowly and had our hazard lights on. That was much better than pulling over praying that the next car notices you.

I'm thinking you had bigger problems if snow was getting in, like water leaks.

No water leaks, just hard wind that blew the snow into the inside of the car...

I see you went to the bookstore tonight, now I can drive behind you in dust storms as I know who to follow.
