Starting Thursday they're doing the planned work on 347. What wasn't clear was the order in which they are doing it. According to this notice on AZ511:

"starting 7/26 on start milling sb lane 4 am to 1:00 pm switch to nb after am rush. aug 1 start hot-in-place recycle for right lane, sb 4:00 am to 1:00 pm. aug. 13 start work in maricopa. night time 7:00 pm to 4:00 am"

It looks like they plan to mill down the entire road and then start paving it? If so, it will be very noisy until they get it paved.

so, everyone is going to have to head to casa grande to connect to the I-10, for the morning commute? pretty much add an extra 1/2 hr. for your commute?

when do they expect the whole paving of the 347 (only outside of the city limit) to be done?

Please read the first post. The Southbound lanes will be closed in the morning to allow northbound commute to 'the city'. Will switch to northbound lanes to allow commute home. Still expect slowdowns, but could be worse.

Should be interesting commute.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Yep, sounds like during peak commuting hours, we'll have two freshly milled lanes to drive on for quite awhile. Can't wait for the rubber to go down.

"Machinery will remove 2 inches of the pavement, heat it, mix new asphalt with the old, and replace it all in one operation"

This is what I read, so I'm thinking it will be done in one operation, then they will come back and add the rubber. The rubber will make it very quite. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there will be no week long lasting milled roadway.

One of the two is wrong then, because the AZ511 entry says that repaving won't begin until a week after they've finished milling.

As for the rubberized layer, that is a whole separate operation. They have to allow the new asphalt time to cool and before they can add the rubberized layer.

I'm sure that wasn't what we were told at the meeting. Assuming there aren't monsoon related delays, we'll know real soon!!

I did. I go for the meeting with contractors and ADOT present over a blurb on a ite that is notoriously inacurate,

That's fine. I'm happy for AZ511 to be wrong, but 511 is also fed by ADOT. So it would be nice if ADOT could get their story straight.

On the way to work this morning it looked like they had half of the southbound right lane ripped up. Did not see any new asphalt, just a huge drop-off from the left lane to the right lane.
