Alert | | Where is the Police to start passing out speeding tickets. Are they that concerned with Stop sign violations that speeding can be ignored. I was traveling 30 mph in the 25 mph zone on Honeycutt in front of Senita. Someone in a little white car (looked like a Nissan Sentra) zoomed around me by driving on the shoulder at about 55 mph. I guess the only reason I cared was because I had my baby daughter in the car. This guy lives in Tortosa in the neighborhood at the end of Terragona (one past mine). I know because despite his need for speed, he still got caught in traffic at Hartman and this allowed me to catch up. Imagine that, I was going the legal speed limit, and still got home when they did. Stop speeding people, it doesnt really get you anywhere faster, and it's dangerous.

Alert | I'm sorry, but this post makes me laugh...
I took a critical thinking class in college that talked about something called Logical Reasoning Fallacies. One that sticks out in my mind is the "lesser of two evils fallacy" (btw, I can't believe I am ctually using this information....)
This is almost a textbook example of that lesson....
I was traveling 30 mph in the 25 mph zone on Honeycutt in front of Senita..."
Someone in a little white car (looked like a Nissan Sentra) zoomed around me by driving on the shoulder at about 55 mph.
How can you talk about someone wrong because they were more wrong than you? If you are doing 30 in a 25 you too are speeding and in my opinion should be offered a speeding ticket.
What makes me laugh also is that you say "Imagine that, I was going the legal speed limit, and still got home when they did".....but you weren't...you were going 5 miles over. If you were going the legal speed limit, you would have been doing 25, not 30.....
Sorry, maybe its just because its late, but I am finding this extremely funny.

Alert | weeeeeeel, i think there's discretion within about 5mph, if pd has nothing better to do then they would pull you over and just warn you about the over 5mph, if if you're going 55 in a 25, then that, in itself, is not just a civic matter, but a criminal.
comes to think of it, i wonder if it's a criminal traffic matter if you're over 25 at any mile posting? | | i don't like people who uses "signature" on their profile. TAKE IT OFF!!!

There's discretion at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 35...etc. Speeding is speeding, whether you're 5 over or 20 over. Furthermore, a mom doing 5 over may be far more dangerous than the concentrated driver going 15 over. Especially when the speed limit obviously does not match the circumstances (as happens in several places in Maricopa). Either way you slice it, the OP has no room to complain when they're speeding themselves.
As for when it becomes criminal, only within a residential or business district (meaning there is a building within 600 feet of the road) is it criminal at 21+ MPH. Otherwise the limit is 85. So you can conceivably go over the Queen Creek overpass doing 75 and not get a criminal speeding ticket, even though you're going 30 MPH over the limit. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | give me a break! you're so quick to know all the laws except for when you get behind a wheel. You know as well as I do that give or take 9 mph of the speed limit is what everyone does. Technically it isnt legal, but it's known to be the safe zone. Even the 101 cameras dont get you unless you are doing 11+ over the limit. Enough already with your technicalities.

Thank you. And while we are at it what is with all the whining about speeding? People are calling each other whiners about the fire department ordeal but what about people whining about speeding? Why can't we just get over it? If someone is speeding and they piss you off just let it ride and let them go on. You will be much safer behind them.
