Hello Maricopans,

I'm looking to buy a home perhaps later this summer and since I work in the east valley I was considering some homes out in Maricopa.  I understand that you all have what is likely a nasty commute, given the limited routes in to town, but I've had trouble finding a definitive answer to the question of just how bad the trip is.  I figured there is probably no better source than you, the residents.

So, just how bad is it?  What is an average drive time to, say, I-10 and the 202 in Chandler?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Maricopa to I-10 to the 202 Santan Freeway isn't that bad, even during the morning commute. I'd say 25 minutes at the most.

I usually leave between 6:00 - 6:10am and agree that it typically takes about 20-25 minutes

If you leave any later than 6:30 it will not be 25 minutes, you will get caught at the lights on the 347. Look more at 35 minutes if you are leaving during peak traffic.

I leave a few minutes after 7am and it takes me about 25 mins to get to I-10/202 slipt. I return to Maricopa at 8am and traffic seems to be about the same coming from Maricopa. Since they have put in the double turn lanes at I-10/QueenCreek it's improved a lot. I do not get caught by the light very often, so I do not view them as an issue (I'm also not trying to go 100 mph).

Maricopa is a great place. It's growing, so be prepared for that, but I'm excited to be in on the ground floor of making this Our city!

I work in Scottsdale and I leave between 8am and 8:30. It takes me about 20-25 minutes to get to the 202 at Price Rd. I get on the 101. Not sure which way you need to go. I've never been stuck in traffic so long that I was late. (there is always a first time) I've lived out here for 4 years.

It also would depend on WHERE in Maricopa you are living. We are in Cobblestone Farms so we can hit that first light and avoid the traffic in Maricopa. If you are further east or south (Tortosa or Maricopa Meadows) you can add some time just getting out of Maricopa.

Welcome to Maricopa...in advance.

PS...don't let the forum scare you....for the most part we are very fun, positive people. We have been here almost 4 years and LOVE it here. We should have a sign when you enter Maricopa that reads:

Welcome to Maricopa
Home of 30,000 friendly people
and a few 'ol sore heads

Good luck house shopping...it's a great time to buy!

Consider yourself lucky. I have gotten stuck in several 347 jams and one time on I-10 it took 30 minutes to go from under the 202 to Ray Rd.

i live in rancho el dorado, and work near I-10 and the 202. I leave at 6:30 am, and my commute is generally 20-25 minutes.

I commute from Glennwilde Subdivision (Hunnicutt/Porter area) to 52nd St/McDowell area (Phoenix-AZ National Guard Armory). Leave @ 05:15 a.m., arrive at 5:55 a.m. Traffic/speed is good at that time. Foggy weather, couple of accidents on the I-10 are the only delays I've experienced since we moved here in December.

I return at 3:30 p.m. The return trip is a little slower, traffic builds from the 143 southbound to the I-10, but clears up at the 202. AZ347 begins to be crowded at 3:50, but still runs @ 65 or better. Have to pay attention and remember there are 3 red light intersections on the AZ347 Highway. It is NOT a controlled access/exit Interstate like I-10.

We love Maricopa! Small town, but growing, many more amenities than what we left behind in Globe AZ. No regrets. Hope you decide to move here, welcome in advance!--Guitarman
