Alert | Why are the police NOT present to prevent a disaster from happening at Smith Enke & 347?!?!?!?! The timing of the lights and the impatience of drivers in this town is enough to drive anyone to "road rage"! I cannot begin to desribe the tremendously long wait there is in the morning when you head West on Smith Enke to make a right turn at 347. Unfortunately we all have to deal with it and that's the reality. But the real problem is all the people that avoid the long line and merge into the right lane at the light that is for crossing over 347 and then they make a horrifying right turn onto 347 instead of going straight and nearly cause accidents and seriously effect all the people being patient enough to wait in the awful line. Then there are the people that leave four car lengths between them and the car in front of them and let all the jerks merge in and just dont get it! When you are actually moving along you need to leave room for skid-purposes but when the traffic isn't moving and you leave room for all the people screwing everyone else it's a pretty crappy move. Get your heads out of your rears and lets be more understanding to all the people miserable in the long line behind you.

Alert | I agree I am sick of this BS, people need to leave earlier in the morning or just stop being idiots and cutting people off or making the turn from the lane that goes straight.
I would love to get a junky car and take out people making this illegal turn.

Alert | | When there are people in the "straight" lane trying to squeeze in at the light and turn right, I just make my right turn but go into the left lane and run them into the median. I have done it to several already and will continue. If I have to wait in the line so do they. I have the right to turn right there, they do not. To the person on the motorcycle that got mad at me this morning when you tried to cut in...hahahaha, maybe one of these times when you are turned into a meat-waffle, you'll learn. So if you are in the straight lane wanting to turn left in the morning....Pray I am not the one in the turn lane next to you because I WILL let you hit me and you will get the ticket for an illegal left turn.

I would love to get a junky car and take out people making this illegal turn. People don't need to leave earlier. The city needs to allow you to turn from 2 lanes. This is an infrastructure problem and the symptom is the way people drive at this intersection. If you want to get mad then get mad at your city council for ignoring the infrastructure needs here.

Alert | I think we all know that the intersection is not going to be changed anytime soon so yeah people do need to leave earlier if they can't wait in line like everyone else, what makes it legal to make a illegal turn?
I would love to see the judges face when that excuse was used in court, excuse me judge this is a infrastructure problem not me making a illegal turn lol.

Alert | | If the intersection and the section north to the edge of town weren't over capacity then adding a dual right lane would be the proper solution to the long queue on Smith-Enke. Increasing capacity by adding alternative exits from town is what is needed. Unfortuntely this is a lot easier stated than accomplished.

Alert | | NukeGM, I never said it was legal to make an illegal turn. What I am saying is that when the problem is out of control you will have people making illegal turns and getting more aggressive. Until the infrastructure is fixed more and more people will jump on the bandwagon.

So will you, for an illegal right turn or lane change. NOTE: I'm not supporting the illegal right turns from the through lane, I'm just saying, two wrongs don't make a right and don't be surprised if you end up with a ticket too.

Alert | You must not be explaining yourself good enough because I have no idea what you are talking about. But two majors problems with that intersection are: There is only ONE left turn lane by CVS when obviously there is enough room for two if they would just re-paint the lines. That would alleviate much congestion and back-up that occurs.
Two: Going out of town should be three lanes until way past Cobblestone...to make people merge that fast with that much traffic is poor planning and should be taken care of before another strip mall gets built on the right hand side.
For the past month it has taken me at least 20 minutes to go from Senita to Cobblestone, it used to take 7. I'm not sure if the lights are off or what, but I hope they fix some of the problems soon.

Alert | Another problem with this intersection is that people just sit there when the light is green and are afraid to make a right turn because of all the traffic turning left onto JWP from the other direction. It's a green light! Green means go! Don't sit there like a moron! Make your right turn into the right most lane and the people in the other direction will make their left turn into the left lane. It's simple, yet there are so many morons who sit there until it's 100% clear in both lanes. They do the same thing on the southbound 347 turning onto Smith Enke everyday too. They are afraid because another car is going northbound on JWP and is also turning onto Smith Enke. Simple logic tells you to turn into the lane closest to you and you'll be fine as long as it's done cautiously. Don't just sit there and hold everyone up for no reason!! | | They are who we thought they were!

Alert | If someone is turning right onto northbound 347 from Smith-Enke WITH a green light, they have right of way. The person turning left onto northbound 347 from 238 is supposed to wait till traffic is clear before making their left hand turn. That is why they have a green arrow and the right turn lane does not. | | Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference. Unknown

Alert | I'm not sure that's exactly the case. What you're supposed to do is yield if there is a car approaching that is so close it would create a hazard to turn. Because cars turning (both left and right) are legally required to turn into the lane closest to them, I don't think a car approaching in a right turn only lane would qualify as so close as to present a hazard (because their turn wouldn't present a hazard), as long as there are multiple lanes in the road you are turning onto. If you turned left into the lane closest to you and a car turning right hit you, the car turning right would be at fault. | | Joined: Jul 2005
