Alert | Posted By OBG II on 03/18/2008 9:23 AM Reality check: the train has hit cars there before; resulting in fatalities; this is without the stop lights. People do stop on the tracks or try to beat the train. If you are on the tracks and waiting in traffic, where do you go if the train is coming the the arms go down? If there are cars in front of you, DON"T PULL UP AND STOP ON THE TRACKS! Your vision should be good enough to see past the car directly in front of you and if they are stopping or not.

Alert | | RichTig is spot on. It's the same way people (supposed to anyway) avoid stopping in the intersection when the road is clogged in front of them. Watch the cars in front and estimate what it will look like when they are stopped. If you think you can't make it without being on the tracks, stop and wait until you are sure you can go. The only issue around this would be for sedans following SUVs or other large trucks. The only solution then is to follow even further behind. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | come on now. Have none of you ever been in traffic and got stuck in the middle of the intersection, because someone car lengths ahead did not pullup just quite not far enough and that left you hanging out there? I sight East bound Ray road coming out of target or further east Albertsons. I don't care how good a driver you are or claim to be, ACCIDENTS HAPPEN!!! It does not mean you are a bad driver, or a stupid driver. The stupid driver can be in front of you that causes you to be the victim. And yes, I saw the signal poles on the south side of the tracks this morning. That gives me just a tad more comfort, but not much! Its is gonna be ugly no matter what they do.

Alert | Jason, I have been following all the posts on this sight, and I think you should turn in OBGII for stalking. He needs to be cut off. He referenced a post by you going back to January 26th. This is not healthy. I may not agree with some of your views, but there is no way I could begin to recall what you or I have posted or written about back in January. OBGII is spooky. Is Granny just paranoid and you guys are cool with your postings, or is there an issue here.?

Alert | AZ Sand- you must be a city planner. Any resident commuter knows what it is like to in a situation that we would not want to be in. Before you call us STUPID, llok in a mirror. Those who think ONLY STUPID PEOPLE GET KILLED BY TRAINS is more stupid than those that get ACCIDENTALLY TRAPPED on the tracks. DAT BE U!!!!!!!!!

Alert | | Looking at this as the only setup any where and I would have to say that this would be a bad situation but this is not unique. Take a drive up Grand Ave in Phoenix and you will find at least a dozen or more intersection just like this. There are also a couple in Mesa and Queen Creek. I would almost bet that there are hunders of these across the nation. My point is if this was a bad design then they would not be built it. Good drivers never stop on the tracks. They have enough sense to know better.

Alert | Dang sysadmin---- Don't you get it???????????????????????????? You are only as good as the idiot ahead of you. When a vehicle ahead of you leaves 3 car lenghts between him and the next vehicle ahead of him, and you have to hit your brakes, you just might find yourself STUCK ON THE TRACKS. I hope you have enough sense to not be the first fatality. I go on the record: YOU CANT FIX STUPID

You need to be aware of your surroundings, when you are driving. If you are so stupid as to be stopped on the tracks at a light, then you earned your car being destroyed. I am sure you will miss your LeSabre, Granny5x.

Alert | Is it really that difficult to pay attention to the things going on around you while you're in your car?
If you are stupid enough to pull onto the tracks without enough room to move over them, you deserve everything you and your car get. I have no sympathy for people too stupid to be aware of their surroundings when they're driving.
Maybe if I'm lucky, it will be a person that ties up the stopsign at Honeycutt because they're trying to turn left to get to that track first even if its for 'No more than a couple minutes'.
Perhaps you people should be complaining about yourselves and stop complaining that your 'guvment' isn't protecting you from yourself. | | When the only tool you own is a hammer, every problem begins to resemble a nail." - Abraham Maslow (1908-1970)
