I would like to thank all the countless idiots who drive in the left passing lane.  Without you, this award would not be possible.

I never said anything about running you off the road or cutting you off.  I give other drivers plenty of room, when I am changing lanes.

My beef is with the 'tards who drive in the left "passing" lane, while they pace the person in the right lane.  They get some kind of sick satisfaction keeping the mile long line of cars behind them at 64mph.

I drive in the right lane.  When I approach another car, I change lanes, make the pass, then return to the RIGHT lane.

If the citizen sheriffs riding the left lane would do this too, there wouldn't even be a need for this thread or you people's self-righteous attitudes.

I like how you make the assumption that we are driving 100mph and trying to save 5 minutes. You must be one of those people that tool along in the left lane and pace the car in the right, creating a rolling road block and a dangerous situation as the traffic piles up. I have never run anyone off the road and if you want to try to run me off the road feel free, I bet you brake check too when you are driving slow in the left lane creating a traffic pileup.

And if this is some sort of threat all I can say is try me.

I just have to say that I'm constantly amazed at the low reading comprehension level of adults who post on here. How hard is it to read a paragraph and instead of focusing on the first or last sentence, you understand the POINT being made. If you can't figure out what someone's point is, don't try to argue with them.

Maybe that should be the award of the day. Not to take any attention away from yours, Richtig, which I don't think you deserved. You deserved the "Right, Whether You People Like It Or Not" award.

I don't have to imagine. Pretty much every day I'm passing people on the right because they think the left lane is the cruising lane.

No, no, stay in the right lane! Please! I get tired of zigzagging through a block of cars going 55-60 MPH because some cruise in the left lane and some cruise in the right lane.

You're missing the point of us pointing out that keeping right is the law. We're trying to reason with these people on the terms that they setup: speeding is against the law. OK, well, so is blocking the left lane. Don't be a hypocrite (not you specifically). Don't throw it back in our face that speeding is against the law if you're going to pick and choose the ones you want to follow. The only ones in the debate that have a consistent point are those that are looking for smooth traffic flow. If you want to go the speed limit, we say fine, just please do it in the right lane and allow for smooth flow. But don't commit one illegal action while condemning others for another.

Am I going to shut up? No, I want a nice smooth drive. I get tired of being stuck behind people who have cell phone conversations that are more important and can't even let people around going the speed limit, much less those going 70 or 75. I get tired of those that start passing and then drop back and then start passing and then drop back and on and on... I get tired of vindictive drivers that commit misdemeanors by blocking me from passing.

Don't blame it on me going faster than the speed limit. There has not been but a handful of trips in the last few months where I have been able to drive back into Maricopa on 347 and go most of the trip at 65. Most of the time I get stuck behind people going 50-60. Apparently it's too much to ask anymore to go the speed limit even.

Tortosaguy, you win.  You are right.  You can drive in the left lane doing 50mph, whenever you like, becasue this is America.

Pay no attention to the mile of cars behind you.  They would have been speeding all the way up to 65mph or maybe even 66mph.  They obviuosly don't have the same respect for the law that you do.  So, you hold them up, knowing that you know best.

It doesn't matter that they worked all day and are heading home to spend time with their families.  Another 10min on the 347 really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

10min a day mon-fri and 50 weeks a year (minus 2 for vacation) - thats only 41.67 hours of their kids lives they miss.

Please, please drive in the right lane and pass in the left.  DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN!

Then you are part of the problem.  If everyone stayed right and used the left lane solely for passing, then the traffic would move smoothly, regardless of how fast each individual car is going.

Alas, that is never the case.
