Granny5X, Thank you for the earlier comments; however, I am a bit concerned with the frown above. At any rate, I promise that they will go away regardless of the outcome. Thanks KH

Alert | Kelly appreciate and understand your position on annexation procedure and whether the timing is right. The law states a time frame on petitions being submitted on a time line, not the city acting immediately. For some unknown reason everything is hurry up and close the books. Again the old saying "hast makes waste " in many cases. You stood up like a real councilmen should against a stacked deck, sure wish you would of started earlier and things I hope are better in the future. Just a final note I wonder why the council would not accept a tie vote and wait for the tie beaker to decide the issue?

Alert | Nothing to be concerned with, Kelly, other that I live too far out and cannot vote. I am good enough to use the zip code, but am out of district here in Hidden Valley. I shop, eat, pay Maricopa Taxes when I shop there. I do all I can to keep my $$ in Maricopa, but can't have a say at the "City Elections" Go Figure! Alert | Kelly I come originally from Illinois and well remember two towns i lived in that got sold a bill of goods on building a airport. One of those the airport went belly up after one year. It's now a run down piece of property that the people of the town wish would get torn down. In the other case the airport is still their. Its does well for the users. However all residents of the town who live near it saw their home values fall by 40%. Frankly, i have never met a soul who would buy a home near or next to a airport. Additionally, sadly one of those private planes slammed into a home killing a mom and two children. Some things are far more important then "free" money from the Federal government. Think first about the residents of this town and those who will lose home values when you build your airport. Think first what plans you have to protect the citizens when one of the pilots has a mistake or engine failure such as occurred in Illinois.s

Alert | Posted By n/a on 05/12/2008 6:39 AM At approximately 3AM this morning, a group of African American and Latino teenagers broke out in a fight in the northwest area of Maricopa Meadows. Knives were involved and a number of the teenagers were stabbed and cut. one of the teenagers was critically injured with lacerations by a machete and had to be airlifted out of Maricopa to Maricopa County Hospital. The other stabbings were not as serious, as I understand it. As a homeowner and father of young children, there is nothing worse than being awaken by police lights and helicopters in your own neighborhood. This isn't the first time I've seen this stuff in my neighborhood. The teenagers involved were all drinking. Why are these kids roaming around the streets in the middle of the night? Where are the parents? What is the police department doing about these kids? I've pretty much had it with all the disturbances in my area.
I have had it at this point and instead of wasting time placing blame am going to be proactive. I urge you all to begin forming Neighborhood Watch groups and meet all your fellow Maricopans. Next, ask our local governmenet what they are going to do about the issues that are plaguing Maricopa. Hold them accountable for what they did in communicating this event and lying about it for days. Campaigning Councilmen: How are you going to deal with the issues of our youth and intergrity of our police department?

I am not sure what the solution is, however, I can promise you that I will continue to look at ways to solve the problem and am more than happy to take suggestions. I can tell you that if we focus a bit harder on our Parks and Rec activities, giving our youth more outlets and less idle time we can play a big part in the redction of the fights and the petty crimes they commit. I was originally for the annexation and changed my mind due to the economic status of the city and the country for that mattter (nothing is final yet). I do believe however, that the airport site is far enough to the west that it will have little impact on the majority of houses and furthermore, if planned properly can be a huge boost to our economic development efforts.
