That sealed it for me... if Romney is Drummers Republican pick than there must be more wrong with Mitt than I had envisioned

Kinda like with you and huckabee. At least you don't have a "I don't have a stance obama" avatar. Did you hear that now he is voting for giving illegals drivers licenses and residency education benefits. He even agrees with giving those checks from the stimulus package to illegals. I guess even huckabee would be better than that ken. :-)

Illegals should be given a swift kick in the rear and one-way ticket to the border.....

Heck yeah why should we reward people for illegally coming across with amnesty when some people have waited years to come legally. I would be so pissed off if I was a legal immigrant. Also I hate that people think that we are criminal for taking that stance. People talk like because we want to enforce the border that we are nazi's or something. I don't get it. When Huckabee made the point that children born to illegals should maybe be considered illegals as well people crucified him. It's crazy. Then the arizona republic writes about illegal mexican criminals like they were some everyday joe. Half the time it's like oh yeah and by the way they were also undocumented. It really makes my blood boil to think we could either have john McClinton or Hillary CliCain as Pres. If they want to be so proud of Mexico go back to Mexico. You know McCain wasn't even born here. He was born in the canal zone of Panama.

The Mexican people live under a corrupt government and a horrible economy. They come here for a better life. I don't blame them for that. But if they cross illegally I have no sympathy. Do it the right way. The tests aren't that hard, and it is cheaper than paying a Coyote. I know legal immigrants who bash illegals more than anyone, and rightly so........

Close the borders and have checkpoints like in other countries. It's for the protection of the citizens of this country.

I agree foreign aid or changing the legal process is one thing. But to grant open amnesty and reward illegal behavior is not okay. We are so worried about the war on terror but criminals cross the border everyday like a stroll in the park. Who know's maybe Osama lives in McCains hometown with a bunch of illegals. He is known now by Jose Bin Rodriguez.

What are the candidates' stances on immigration seriously? I don't hear about it much.

McCain aka the democrat or McClinton-secure the borders and those that are illegal currently will be given a shortcut to citizenship aka amnesty. He also supports more open trading with latin america and him and bush tried to forcefully pass two proamnesty bills this last summer in essence rewarding people already illegally here. He has changed his position 2 or 3 times. He even stated he changed his position because that's what the people wanted.

Romney-Secure The Border. Build a physical and technological fence along the southern border, and secure other points of entry. Implement An Enforceable Employer Verification System. Reject Amnesty. Do not give amnesty or any special pathway to those who have come to this country illegally. Punish Sanctuary Cities. Cut back federal funding to cities that are “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants and refuse to comply with federal law or aid federal law enforcement. Improve Interior Enforcement. Crackdown on employers who continue to hire illegals with stiffer fines and penalties. Encourage Legal Immigration. Streamline the system to recruit and retain skilled workers and welcome the best and the brightest from around the world to our universities.

Huckabee-He supports the $3 billion the Senate has voted for border security. This money will train and deploy 23,000 more agents, add four drone planes, build 700 miles of fence and 300 miles of vehicle barriers, and put up 105 radar and camera towers. This money will turn “catch and release” into “catch and detain” of those entering illegally, and crack down on those who overstay their visas. I oppose and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government must crack down on rogue cities that willfully undermine our economy and national security. I oppose giving driver’s licenses to illegals and supports legislation to prevent states from doing so. In 2005, I signed legislation that prevents illegals in Arkansas from getting driver’s licenses. oppose the economic integration of North America that would create open borders among the United States, Canada, and Mexico. I will never yield one iota or one inch of our sovereignty. In this age of terror, immigration is not only an economic issue, but also a national security issue. Those caught trying to enter illegally must be detained, processed, and deported. As Governor, I ordered my state troopers to work with the Department of Homeland Security to arrest illegals and enforce federal immigration law.

I copied and pasted a lot of this from their campaign pages. But the important thing is that McCain is pro amnesty to a point regardless of what he might say now. On him and bush's amnesty bills half the votes were dems. Pretty scary. Huckabe has one of the best positions I think. He has even mentioned early in his campaign about wanting to make it to where children born to illegals would not become citizens. Because he felt if diplomats could not do this why should we reward illegals. Romney has a very good position as well. He made a satement in his speech yesterday. He said all illegals should go to the back of the line like everyone else. He made the point it is unfair for the people who have waited for years when you just give amnesty rewarding these illegal immigrants. Like it says above he also supports the fence and an increase in security with border patrol and enabling local law enforcement to do more than they presently can. Both Romney and Huckabee endorse social changes to Nafta and like giuliani endorse tax breaks for american businesses who keep their jobs here to offset NAFTA. Hope that helps I tried to get info from the source for ya

I agree with ya jason. I think a morph of romney/huckabee's border policy would be the best.

Personally I think all of them are pretty bad on the border. Even Romney and Huckabee. What none of them highlight is they all want a huge guest worker program.

It doesn't matter how many people you kick back across the border if we are letting an equal number back in through the front door. Not even one of the candidates running at this time has a real border solution, just some smoke and mirrors to make us feel better about it for another 20 years.

As long as we continue to let cheap labor poor in through our borders legally or illegally we will continue to have an eroding of the middle class and other problems with our economy.

Correction on Huckabee...Its a fact as Govenor he recommended and supported a bill giving Illegals in state tuiton..Meaning a illegal could attend University of Arkansas for less then you could. In fact he wrote most of the bill which did not pass over his objections.. That is a fact and can be found in Arkansas records or even on the internet thru the Arkansas Gazette from 2005

I'm getting rather tired of explaining this, but here we go again. The bill would have allowed in state resident children of illegal aliens who had attended school in Arkansas all their life, the right to in state tuition as long as they were on a path to citizenship and met every other requirement that any other resident of Arkansas is required to meet.

The idea of the law was that the children affected never chose to become illegal aliens. They were brought here by their parents and in almost every way are Americans, as they were raised here and schooled here nearly all their life.

These individuals spoke English, were educated in the US, want to become citizens, and were seeking higher education instead of a welfare handout. If we are going to have any immigrants into America, these are the kind of immigrants we would want.

Ken believe it or not I actually agree with you.
Why can't people stop complaining about every candidate and give a viable candidate with a better option for immigration. Regardless of what was done before at least romney and huck are trying to do something. better than most others can say. Romney wants better tracking systems and accountability for the people that come here and both of them are all about making it harder to get here other ways. It's not perfect but I think they are our best option. Wow ken I can't believe I'm actually on the same side as you for once.
I guess your not too bad

ya I don't think our views are really that different... our differences come with the candidates we choose to support. I like Huckabee, you don't... you like Mitt, but Mitt creeps me out. Other than that we're on the same side.
