Alert | Posted By ken on 01/19/2008 10:29 AM I think Colin Powell would be a good running mate for either of the governors as it adds foreign policy experience. For Huckabee I think he would best be helped by someone who is a strong economic conservative, maybe Newt Gingrich. McCain, I'm not sure on. He needs help on both the social and economic fronts of the party. My thought is that if McCain gets it, he will try to put the large grassroots group of Huckabee volunteers to use by nominating Huckabee for VP, but maybe thats just me being optimistic.
I am just prayin that mcCain doesn't win. Him or a democrat is about the worst thing that could happen. He would split the gop and I think would have a very hard time getting anything done as a president. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

Alert | | I'm not so sure McCain would split the GOP. His biggest opponents are social conservatives and economic conservatives. Foreign Policy conservatives like him just fine. From the interaction I have had with a large amount of social conservatives in the Huckabee camp there is a general feeling that they are willing to give McCain another shot if Huckabee doesn't make it. As for economic conservatives... right now they are so busy freaking out about Huckabee, which I think is ridiculous by the way, but anyway... they dislike Huckabee so much that I think they'd be happy to have McCain. | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. Alert | | we'll see what happens. Id rather it be romney vs huckabee. mcCain really gets under my skin. I hate that everytime he doesn't know what to do he brings up soldiers. Like when he got booed in Michigan. But i feel like at least its better to choose between the 5 this year than between bush-mccain in 2000. I feel like there are better options this time around. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

Alert | | Looks like Mitt pulled off Nevada... AP just called it for him. One thing that I find interesting is from the exit polling done they say Romney got 95% of the Mormon vote! And people say Mike Huckabee supporters are all about Religion? I wish Mike Huckabee could carry 95% of the Christian vote, heck, even 95% of the Baptist vote! | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. Alert | | Also for Romney. Would have considered Thompson but he just does not have it. Our Arizona Senator will never get my vote again. I would vote for some third party guy in the general election if our Senator gets it. Huckabee has no chance as he is just the far Christian right guy. Huck seems like a nice guy but some of his public statements have domed his campaign.

I agree with that. Romney better get the nomination. If McCain gets it I don't know if I can vote for him no matter how republican I am. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

Alert | Well after last night I must say I am sadly disappointed. I'm still voting for Huckabee, but I must say I don't think he's got much of a shot after last night. I still stand by my anyone but Romney or Guiliani stance however. So I guess I'm unenthusiastically hoping McCain wins it | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. Alert | | If Hillary wins the Dem nod, she will be the greatest uniter of the Rep party since R. Reagan. Many will hold their nose and vote for her opponent, whoever he is.

Alert | I just saw Mitt speak on tv after McCain was announced the winner. I was writing e-mails but still listening as he said we were losing jobs to countries such as India and Asia. He also mentioned something about people needing to wait to have kids until they're married.
Mitt...
1. Get a world map and study it 2. Isn't there more pressing issues facing our country than unwed mothers?
I guess it doesn't matter. With the exception of McCain I don't see anybody beating Billary or Obama.

Alert | | Don't bet on McCain... He may be winning a hollow victory....Many Republicans will never vote for him. In a general election maybe he can get the Ind vote but that will not help much when the Rep conservatives sit it out...

Alert | I try to be as "left" as I can be, without getting killed. But, if it came down to the wire and it was going to be a republican in office... ...i might want Romney in there. I heard him speak and he's not too bad. But, Obama is going to win...wooo-hooo! | | "Everything for everyone and nothing for ourselves"
