Alert | My point exactly. It just seems the media makes more dirt stick to Republicans than to Democrats. The President of the United States at the time, Bill Clinton, was being sued for sexual harassment by Paula Jones and flat out lied, under oath, in a court of law and the media continued to spin the issue as something that was not America's business and that we should all just stay out of it. To this day he is celebrated as a "wonderful" president by many.
However on the other hand, Republican Senator Larry Craig played footsy with an undercover cop in a bathroom and got arrested for propositioning for sex. He has been racked through the coals and everyone has been calling for his resignation over it. Now that he has refused to resign he is routinely ridiculed by the media anytime he is involved in anything.
Why the double standard? The way the media had treated Larry Craig, I believe is spot on... the guy's a creep. I just think the same standard should have been applied to Bill Clinton as well. | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. This is like mistaking a cup of milk for a cow." -- Unknown

Alert | It's a matter of heterosexual and homosexual sex. To this day, homosexual sex is not "accepted". Had it been a woman's foot in the bathroom stall, I think it would not have been as big of a deal.
You have to admit,Craig's situation was hilarious... | | "Everything for everyone and nothing for ourselves"

Alert | | Ya it was rather humorous. Especially when the ACLU decided to defend Larry Craig's right to have homosexual flings in a public bathroom, because there was an implied "right to privacy" in a toilet stall. That argument borders on absurdity. | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. This is like mistaking a cup of milk for a cow." -- Unknown

You have to admit,Craig's situation was hilarious... Yeah but what I don't understand is that liberals tell everyone to be so tolerant of homosexuality and even embrace it, yet they ridicule this guy for a hint of homosexuality? Why is he being ostracized if it is ok to be gay (whether he is not.)?

Yeah but what I don't understand is that liberals tell everyone to be so tolerant of homosexuality and even embrace it, yet they ridicule this guy for a hint of homosexuality? Why is he being ostracized if it is ok to be gay (whether he is not.)? Under the rules of the left and their minions in the press, a liberal democrat who has oral sex with an aide in the Oval Office and then lies under oath, a Senator who kills his girlfriend by drowning, and a Congressman who lets his boyfriend use his ( the Congressman's ) DC home to run his male prostitution operation, get a pass. The press covers the story but lets it die out as soon as they can. The party line becomes " this is a private matter and non of the publics business'. A conservative or republican in a similar situation is pilloried and dies a death of 1,000 cuts. The story is kept alive to drag on as long as possible in order to do as much damage as possible. The fact that the vast majority of the mainstream press is liberal ( as shown in survey after survey) and allow their prejudice to influence their reporting is just a fact of life that conservatives have to live with.I remember an interview a few years ago with a media figure who disputed that there was a left wing bias in the press. When he was given figures that showed that media representatives overwhelmingly supported liberal positions on a number of issues, he responded that those were not liberal positions, they were mainstream opinions. His reasoning was that all his friends and co-workers all had those views. He did not see the irony of his statement. He reminded me of the story of the millionaire who could not understand why Roosevelt won election in the 1930s because, as he said, "none of my friends voted for him".

Him getting caught is just part of the game the republicans and democrates play. Once they find dirt on a person (rep/dem) they just want to continue making this person look like sh*t. Alert | I hold no brief for McCain and will not vote for him, but to call a man with his record of service to this country an idiot, demeans the entire political process. It moves us from an intelligent discussion of important issues to grade school insults.
