Alert | Good man Jason & hastings1066! But no hints, please... some may feel the need to find out WHERE it originates BEFORE making a statement of their agreement or not. I guess other are afraid to see that what they REALLY believe, is not what they THINK they believe. This is part of the research. The PRINCIPLES are what is important, NOT who authored them. Do people follow "others" because it's popular, or "hip/cool", or do they REALLY follow their conscience and heart??? WOW! What a concept! Thanks group for you assistance so far

Alert | Okay here is my reply. Sorry I've been out of the loop for a bit. My post numbers are falling behind. i just moved so I just got internet back. Sorry everyone.
I do agree with most of what was said slinky. I believe in the federalist or grand old party vision. Saying that means i feel the original vision our founding fathers had was small government. Free enterprise and state responsibility is what much of their vision was. It was about personal self reliance and requiring such. The individual should do all they can do before any government can or should step in. Involvement in society's affairs should go in this order. Self, Family, Friends, Church, Private Organizations, then Government which should always be the state first. The federal government should only intervene to help the state do it's job. This is the basis for government and to give society everything is to remove self reliance and degrade society our feeling of self worth.
I hope this is what you were looking for. If you have questions about any issues I can go in more detail if you would like. Just let me know. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

Alert | Obviously Drummer 72 doesn't have the inspiration or drive to better himself or raise his educational level above the 12th grade. He's clearly and decidedly part of the "gimme, gimme, gimme crowd". Hmmm, was it not a Democrat who said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country" ? Now that was GREAT advice. NOTICE: he writes (and probably holds conversations) in monosyllabic form. Forget his opinion Slinky, He's too ignorant of issues to really understand what you're asking for. I just realized what the "72" stands for in his name. HIS I.Q.

Alert | Easy there, alyblueyz! He's half way there. He AGREES SOMEWHAT. So he's half REPUBLICAN! As hastings hinted at, that is the "Principles of the Republican Party"! So gang, if you find yourself agreeing with those principles, hmmm, better look deeper into your heart as to what YOU need to do on Election Day. Which candidate most closely resembles your ideals? The Socialist Candidates (read: democrats) or the Republican? Personally I dislike McCain, but, he MORE CLOSELY represents the ideals I have for MY LIFE. Less government regulation, (stay the He*L out of my life), free enterprise, (I'm [GASP} self employed), and a responsible person with free will... Thanks to all who participated! Slinkey

Alert | True, true, far too many Republicans have strayed from Abe's Principles. I blame the Dems. They have infected many Reps with the "what can the gov do for me as long as someone else pays for it" infection.
