Alert | Posted By drummer72 on 01/28/2008 3:33 PM Ron Paul sounds pretty good, but he's sucking in the polls. No one wants real change, because that would mean people would have to work for something.
Which is precisely why Obama is a false hope. He speaks of change, but knows full well that most Americans don't want real change because it involves work. He and Ron Paul are alike in the sense that both claim to offer a fresh outlook, but only Ron Paul has gone into specifics...and look where that set him in the polls.

Alert | For a false hope he seems to be doing well in the polls. When you think about, they're all false hopes. It's just a matter of trying to believe what they are telling you. Most candidates only tell you what you want to hear. What exactly did Bush tell us in 00' to get you suckers to vote for him?? | | "Everything for everyone and nothing for ourselves"

The mainstream ones are indeed all false hopes...because they never offer us anything new. New is scary, truth is even scarier. So with Obama, we get inspirational orations that sound lovely, but no hard facts or concrete plans. He does well in polls because he is so pleasant to listen to, candidates of that sort only lead to disappointment when they take office and offer no actual change.
George Bush won in 2000 because of who he ran against. Al Gore was an absolute stumblebum on the campaign trail, and his desire to ban the internal combustion engine rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. Meanwhile, George Bush himself only won his party's nomination because McCain imploded amidst questions of alleged anger-management issues (which were never truly corroborated). The lesson here? That often you're not running against an opponent, you are running against yourself.

Alert | | did you guys hear what mcCain did? I was listening to sean hannity when I heard. I guess he made a laundry list of false statements about Romney thinking the media wouldn't catch it. I guess the ap called mcCain out and called him a liar. I think it's kinda funny. Especially after the campaign reform him and lieberman passed. Within 30 days of the election you cannot post any ads rebutting statements made by other candidates. So romney had to just make a statement at a speech. I guess it shows mcCain will do anything to win. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

What makes you think that? I think he's about as far from George Bush as one can get while still claiming the Republican side. There's a reason that the talk-radio folk who support George Bush consider McCain to be just a step or two above Hillary or Obama...

Martin Luther King had a dream as well, that dream didn't last too long did it? America is a county based on white protestants, with all the turmoil, war and crime that's happening with this country you think America is ready for a woman or a black President? Haha yeah ok. You would have to be a dreamer to believe you are going to make it 4 years in office without someone voting from the rooftops in your favor.

Drummer you are kinda right. On most issues mcCain is way more liberal than bush. But when it comes to the borders and a few bleeding heart causes I believe your right. He will also fit the bush bill for the Iraq war. I am okay with his stances on the war. I am not okay with the bleeding heart bs. You know McCain almost switched party affiliations years ago. That is crazy to me that he is now trying to be Mr. Conservative. He'll lie and say anything to get elected. I still just don't understand how so many republicans can just overlook his history. When JD Heyworth and the other GOP members of congress were at the capitol fighting to get military absentee ballots to count back then McCain didn't even show up to show support. I mean he's been caught in all kinds of lies about other candidates but because he's the liberal media darling he'll probably beat out romney anyway. The funny thing is romney wins 2 of 3 conservative votes but its the independents electing McCain. Even in florida the analysis shows it was old people, cubans, and republican registered liberals that won. Exit polls showed 2 of 3 conservative republicans voting for Romney. I mean when did the liberals take over our party. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

You know McCain also switched sides in Hanoi during the Viet Nam war? Believe that, they have a vet protest for him every year, my buddy Rob's father was in Hinoi with McCain, needless to say he ranks him amongst the lines of Jane Fonda and attends the Anti-McCain rally every year.

I hope they switch back. Romney and Huckabee are decent people. Both would be way better presidents that anyone on the left. At least they are both people we could get behind. I have sit down and talked with Mitt Romney and he is a stand up guy. I also think Huckabee seems like he could be decent. I just hope others see that. I also hope others get the chance to vote for one of them. I hate McCain. It's crazy that he almost became a dem and republicans still vote for the guy. | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

I can't even believe you would use a quote by Thomas Jefferson in your sig and then say Obama looks good, you sir are a sell out and obviously have no idea what Jefferson stood for at his point in history.

Alert | | It's funny that he always calls romney a flip flopper. He's worse than all the other candidates put together. Anyone who can't decide what party he wants to be a part of and then votes directly against his own party over and over will never get my vote EVER | | "If everyone had the right priorities in life there would always be a shortage of fishing poles" Mark Twain

Dude chill-out. You hardly know me. Just because I said I liked two candidates so far doesn't mean I am voting for them! Geez... Should I vote for cry baby Hilary? I dislike the Clintons as much as the Bush's. How about Ron Paul's revolution? He's said some lovely racist things in his past. Why don't you tell me who to vote for then? I love it when people just get all angry when you even give a slight opinion. Do you even vote? | | "My favorite health club is the International House of Pancakes" -- Lewis Black
