I was being sarcastic. But to think that we are causing "global warming" is a bunch of snake oil bs. And whos to say that our current climate is the ideal climate? Then you've got Al Gore the new Jane Fonda.... going around the world trying to sell us down the river. It is only a matter of time that our government will use this "Global Warming" crap on us to increase our taxes... and punish us for living comfortably. Don't think it will happen? It already has in England.

Thanks for the laugh! That's great! Hope you're registered to vote! Monday the 7th is the last day to register for the closed Primary. You must be registered as a Democrat or Republican. State law does not allow Independants to vote.

A Boston Globe editorial regarding one year that still averaged warmer than the 100 year average does not meaningfully contribute to the argument. Check out this graph, and you'll see outlying data and a non-linear trend.

True, 1998 (hottest year on record) was also an aberration that some 'alarmists' have used to further their cause. I am a realist, and the key is the trend. As can be seen, the trend is not constant, but it continues to go up (every 40-50 years it levels off and then starts up again). Depending on whether linear, quadratic, or exponential trending is used, all agree that even the aberration of 1998 will be broken again very soon.

Incorrect. The hottest year was not 1998, it was 1934. There was an error is nasa's data.... See here
http://www.geotimes.org/aug07/article.html?id=WebExtra081607_2.html

I guess Al Gore failed to mention that....

There are a lot of scientists that have a lot of grant money coming in all in the name of global warming, who would do nothing short of lie to keep that money coming in.....

I took a look at that link and the first two sentences said:

Due to an error in calculations of mean U.S. temperatures, 1934, not 1998 as previously reported, is the hottest year on record in the United States. NASA scientists contend that the error has little effect on overall U.S. temperature trends and no effect on global mean temperatures, with 2005 still the hottest year worldwide by far, followed by 1998.

For someone being sarcastic and believes that the temperature is warming, you sure are posting some weird stuff.

For 400 years after Erik the Red discovered Greenland in 989, two farming settlements prospered on the island while the earth was in a warm phase. In the late 1300s the settlements were abandoned as the earth went into a cooler phase.
Climate change has been a continuous on going process throughout the existence of the earth. Just look at the various ice ages and the fact that the Sahara Desert was, until some 1000s of years ago a grassland. Did human activity cause the ice ages, the cold that destroyed farming in Greenland, or the lack of rain in N. Africa?
To use temp readings from the last 100 years or so to blame humans for a force of nature that has been in existence for billions of years is just silly. Does human activity impact climate? Perhaps to some degree, but so does every mouse that breaks wind. It’s all a matter of degree.

Man contribution to "global warming" is the equivalent of trying to heat a swimming pool with a bic lighter...

I think that we really can't know one way or another exactly what our contribution is or isn't yet--because we haven't yet gotten to that point of knowledge. Saying we definitely are or definitely aren't contributing significantly is still speculation either way at this point.

I would pretty much agree with you on this. Though I would say that most of the green folks are absolutely nuts when it comes to being green... I really don't see any issue in helping protect the environment as it just makes sense to not want to screw up our planet. However, at what cost? If it means I have to drive a dinky little car with 2 seats and solar panels all over it than I'd say its gone WAY too far. But on the other hand, if you want to promote CF light bulbs instead of incandescent, I've got no problem with that.

The truth of the matter is we don't really know for a fact one way or the other. So I'd say we just stay the course we've been going and if there is something you can do to "save the planet" that isn't too much of a hassle, then more power to you.

Do we learn about global warming and green house gas from the bias media, Hollywood movies and leftwing politicos
or read science facts, think and make our own decisions?
