The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion"
in a casual manner, think about whether you want the
"politicians" spending YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one
advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure
into some perspective in one of its releases:

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth.

E.
A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate the US government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans.

It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division .….
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for
$250 BILLION to “rebuild” New Orleans.  Interesting number, and what does it mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.

B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans,
     your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D.C. ….. HELLO!!! ... are all your calculators broken??

But this what Washington thinks over the average person:

Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes are the rule.
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his booze,
Tax his beers,
If he cries,
Tax his tears.

Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,
Tax his cash.

Tax him good and let him know
that after taxes, he has no dough.

If he hollers,
Tax him more,
Tax him until he's good and sore.

Tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"

And when he's gone,
We won't relax,
We'll still be after the inheritance TAX!!!

Accounts Receivable Tax
Building Permit Tax
CDL License Tax
Cigarette Tax
Corporate Income Tax
Dog License Tax
Federal Income Tax
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
Fishing License Tax
Food License Tax
Fuel Perm it Tax
Gasoline Tax

Telephone State and Local Tax,
Telephone Usage Charge Tax,
Utility Tax,
Vehicle License Registration Tax,
Vehicle Sales Tax,
Watercraft Registration Tax,
Well Permit Tax,
Workers Compensation Tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened to us and our country?  Can you spell 'politicians!'

And yet I still have to "press 1"
for English.
WHY??? Shouldn’t everyone else press a button if they refuse to learn the language of the land???

I hope this goes around the USA at least a million times.

Ask yourself this question: What the heck happened to the good old USA???

Power, that is what happened. The power hungry people found a way to get elected and that is taking money from those who work and give it to those who don't work. For you government eduated folks those who work are the ones who know how to invest their time, money and talent into making money. Those who don't work are more interested in buying cell phones, new cars and going on vacations before they have the real means to do so. They also don't know to invest their money nor are they interested in getting a real education.

Politicians are the effect. Voters are the cause. Apathy is how it happened.

You have a chance to make a small difference on March 11. Let them know what you think of the half-million dollar parking lot at the temporary city hall while less than one year later firing city staff to save money.

Stupid should hurt!

There's still no law that says they can tax our laborious income, look it up! 70 Federal employees who worked for the IRS have quit their jobs after the release of "Freedom to Fascism" a film by Arron Russo. They quit because they could not find a law. Wesley Snipes just got off on charges of Tax Evasion because there is NO LAW!

There will be thousands of people at Post Offices across the Country on April 15th handing out the vital information that American citizens are entitled to! I will be one of those people at our little Post Office here in the 'Copa, I will have magazines with great information and fliers with a list of web sites that contain this information! I do still pay my taxes because I don't have the financial backing of those like Snipes to get me out of it, but I can't wait for the day when we are more aware and fight them on this issue collectively. Here are two quotes from those "in the know".

"If you examined [the 16th ammendment] carefully, you would find that a sufficient number of states never ratified that amendment."
~ U.S. Disrtict Court Judge, James C. Fox, 2003

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is now controlled by its system of credit. We are no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."
~Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President, in 1919.

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”

Some tax trivia - In the 1600s England and Ireland taxed windows, the more windows, the more you paid . The idea was, the more windows you had , the richer you were. It had the expected result, people started to block up windows.

In 1695 England had a Bachelor Tax. Goal, to get men married.

Russia, in 1702, had a Beard tax. Goal, to "modernize" Russia by making men shave.

Norway has the highest taxes. In 1974 2,000 people owed more than their taxable income in taxes.

Albert Einstein said " The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax".

This isn't true. He was found not guilty of criminal fraud charges, but still owes the tax. Time and again it has been shown in court that the tax law is legal.

"If you examined [the 16th ammendment] carefully, you would find that a sufficient number of states never ratified that amendment." ~ U.S. Disrtict Court Judge, James C. Fox, 2003

He is wrong. Here is the opinion of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in United States vs Thomas:

Thomas is a tax protester, and one of his arguments is that he did not need to file tax returns because the sixteenth amendment is not part of the constitution. It was not properly ratified, Thomas insists, repeating the argument of W. Benson & M. Beckman, The Law That Never Was (1985). Benson and Beckman review the documents concerning the states' ratification of the sixteenth amendment and conclude that only four states ratified the sixteenth amendment; they insist that the official promulgation of that amendment by Secretary of State Knox in 1913 is therefore void.

Benson and Beckman did not discover anything; they rediscovered something that Secretary Knox considered in 1913. Thirty-eight states ratified the sixteenth amendment, and thirty-seven sent formal instruments of ratification to the Secretary of State. (Minnesota notified the Secretary orally, and additional states ratified later; we consider only those Secretary Knox considered.Δ]) Only four instruments repeat the language of the sixteenth amendment exactly as Congress approved it. The others contain errors of diction, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. The text Congress transmitted to the states was: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." Many of the instruments neglected to capitalize "States," and some capitalized other words instead. The instrument from Illinois had "remuneration" in place of "enumeration"; the instrument from Missouri substituted "levy" for "lay"; the instrument from Washington had "income" not "incomes"; others made similar blunders.

Thomas insists that because the states did not approve exactly the same text, the amendment did not go into effect. Secretary Knox considered this argument. The Solicitor of the Department of State drew up a list of the errors in the instruments and — taking into account both the triviality of the deviations and the treatment of earlier amendments that had experienced more substantial problems — advised the Secretary that he was authorized to declare the amendment adopted. The Secretary did so.

Although Thomas urges us to take the view of several state courts that only agreement on the literal text may make a legal document effective, the Supreme Court follows the "enrolled bill rule." If a legislative document is authenticated in regular form by the appropriate officials, the court treats that document as properly adopted. Field v. Clark, 143 U.S. 649, 36 L.Ed. 294, 12 S.Ct. 495 (1892). The principle is equally applicable to constitutional amendments. See Leser v. Garnett, 258 U.S. 130, 66 L.Ed. 505, 42 S.Ct. 217 (1922), which treats as conclusive the declaration of the Secretary of State that the nineteenth amendment had been adopted. In United States v. Foster, 789 F.2d. 457, 462-463, n.6 (7th Cir. 1986), we relied on Leser, as well as the inconsequential nature of the objections in the face of the 73-year acceptance of the effectiveness of the sixteenth amendment, to reject a claim similar to Thomas's. See also Coleman v. Miller, 307 U.S. 433, 83 L. Ed. 1385, 59 S. Ct. 972 (1939) (questions about ratification of amendments may be nonjusticiable). Secretary Knox declared that enough states had ratified the sixteenth amendment. The Secretary's decision is not transparently defective. We need not decide when, if ever, such a decision may be reviewed in order to know that Secretary Knox's decision is now beyond review.

If you are against paying taxes, you are against the troops.

It's tax dollars that pay the salaries of our troops fighting terrorism in Iraq. If you're against paying taxes to pay those salaries, then you are against the troops and you are against America.

Who do you think will defend our freedoms we enjoy in this country if there is no military? If there are no taxes paid, then there is no military.

If you are against the IRS, you are against America and the troops fighting in Iraq.

The income tax and the IRS are not the only, or the best, way to fund the government. Much of the money collected by the government goes to fund activities that are not rightly the function of the federal government. Those who are opposed to excessive government taxing are also opposed to excessive government spending. Defense of the nation is however, a legitimate function of the federal government.

No one can say with a straight face that the Republicans have not been a bunch of liberal spenders while they were in charge of the Executive and Legislative Branches of government from 2001 to 2006. Two, three trillion dollars added to the national debt? If I had just One trillion dollars I'd be a very rich man.

Saying something over again does not make it so. To claim that the people who feel we are taxed at to high a rate and for the wrong reasons are anti-military is erroneous. Most of the people who object to our tax system are conservatives, and any objective observer will admit that conservatives are, on the whole, more supportive of the military than liberals. If you disagree I invite you to name a conservative town that has taken an anti-military action such as was taken recently in liberal dominated Berkeley CA.

As to your other point, both Dems and Reps ,when in control, will spend. Politicians view getting re-elected as there first priority, and getting goodies for the local folks is one way to do that. Yes we had record deficits under a Rep congress and will have more under the Dems and in time more under whichever party is in control. It is the nature of the beast. Always has been and always will be.

In the 1800s, the French writer and statesman Alexis De Tocqueville, in his book on America, made an observation that is as true today as it was in the 1800s. He said,"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the publics money." Congress has made that discovery.
