I'm interested for the reasoning for those that listed Clinton as one of the worst presidents? I wouldn't say he was great, but I'm trying to figure out how he would get ranked in the top 3 worst.

Jefferson is my favorite, and FDR I would say is the most overrated (but not the worst).

Clinton was the worst president ever for the assault weapon ban he put into effect in 1994.

I missed that one, however, it wasn't the worst thing he did!

You know, it's awful early to put George W Bush on either list at this point. The man isn't even done with his term yet, and history changes how we view presidents.

I'd also stipulate that it's probably too early to put Clinton on either list...some historians rely on the "20-year rule", believing that the passing of time and the changing of generations leads to a better and broader understanding of how leaders have shaped things. I think I'm in that camp.

Here is my problem waiting 20 years. The media has so much influence these days. Text books are often published by these same media outlets that can have a horrible slant on things.

If you have ever been close to a news story, even a local one, and you watch the story on the news, or read it in the paper, it is almost always wrong. It probably isn't the intention of the reporter in most cases, but they can never get the whole story, and they also often mix up facts.

Now if we are relying on stories with a lot of mis-representations, history is going to tell a different story than what really happened.

Also add in the fact that Bush is trying to raise $200 million for his Presidential Library. With $200 million, he can, in many ways, dicate what history says about him.

It's never too early to voice an opinion. But I do understand your point of view GilaGuy.

Since 1900...
Best
1. FDR.....strong leader and politician all around.
2. JFK...visions and dreams that united a country.
Not enough credit for starting the Civil
Rights Movement....on the other hand..Vietnam too.
3. Teddy Roosevelt....War hero..Nobel Peace Prize.

Worst
1. Hoover....Enough said
2. GW...seriously, has anyone ever divided a country
as much as this guy.
3. Reagan..Iran-Contra, how could anyone not be
under the illusion we were prospering..we went
more than 3 trillion into debt.

3b. I could put Carter here, horrible politicial choices. However, I honestly believe he would have won the 1980 election if he invaded Iran to free the hostages. He knew he would've won the election, but also knew that 52 Americans would've been killed.

For the last 20 years I would say Clinton was the best. He didn't do a whole lot and that is what was so great when he was president everything was pretty free wheeling, this brings us to his polar opposite. The current Bush, the most corrupt evil person to take office in this country. He used fear to change our country around into more of a police state. The loss of privacy and rights in this country in the past 5 years aside from all the lying, war profiteering, and sending people to die under a false premise it is all just too ridiculous. How anyone in office could stand by him after everything terrible he has done I can not understand. What really makes it bad for him is that I don't think George Bush planned out all of these things or wanted things to go this way but I think he is just a front man for Cheney who is really calling the shots in the back room. Bush is the pretty face while Cheney is the schemer in the background that you never know what he is up to.

Precisely, the more the government is in your business the more they can screw it up.

James K Polk was the best in my book! Any president who is "famous" for getting stuck in the bathtub is top notch with me! hehe

If you can't spot the loser, it might be you
