 Alert | just curious what makes people decide to align themselves with particular political parties? what party do you consider yourself and why?
the closest to my ideals would be the libertarian party. i think people deserve freedom, and not to be parented by the government in every aspect of their lives. i also think the big 2 are too out of touch to understand the needs and desires of the average american..... | |

Alert | I'm registered as a libertarian, but I have voted for Republicans and Democrats before. Blind allegiance to any party hurts us in the long run.

Alert | i was registering indie for a while, but i also think most americans won't stray to a "3rd party" because they fear thinking on their own. since i agree with libertarians ideals the most its where i registered. that way a 3rd party gets another member, and a little more in the media spotlight.....

Alert | After the last 7 years, I can't think of too many that are looking forward to the Republicans winning a Presidential election again. Then again, another Clinton is not at all exciting either.
At least if Clinton is the next President, Republicans will move back to their base instead of trying to be Democrats and thinking that the base will follow them no matter how left they become. | |

Alert | | Because i want to have a voice in deciding candidates. Independent Republican. Only voted Democratic once . Tend to vote Repubilcan but don't follow the party line. In primaries many times back a outsider who is not the regular party choice. In general election have bolted from Republican to vote Libertatian or third party if i don't like the Republican primary winner. Backed Ross for Boss in 92 and 96 when i did not like the Republican Presidential candidate.In Illnois politics where i was from backed quite often a underdog Slate in the primaries as their is split in the party. | | | |
