Watch this.....you can't deny it's contents....

HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo press conference - 1998 - announcing that the Clinton administration is forcing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make mortgage loans to those who would not otherwise qualify.  He says that two or three times.  The Clinton administration got us in this mess and now they are blaming Bush.  "Bush's failed economic policies of the last 8 years."  The bad guys at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are friends with Democrats in Congress - not Republicans.   THANKS BILL!!!

Things got out of control and fell apart under Bush. How many bad things can happen during the Bush presidency? Why can't Bush and pals accept any responsibility when bad things happen on their watch? Is everything Clinton's fault? Thank you for the right wing propaganda machine!!!

caveman......WOW.....a little touchy today. You are feeling a little defensive....The point is, Bush is being held responsible for something that Clinton started. No one said that "everything" is Clinton's fault....this is just a HUGE issue that everyone has to live with NOW!!

Actually I get a kick out of the neocons making excuses for failed Bush policy. There are so many righties in this forum that try to paint everything as democrats fault so I enjoy coming in here and showing the other side of the coin. I am sorry if good discussion hurts your feelings.

caveman,

What you fail to see, or refuse to admit, is that the Fannie/Freddie fiasco was indeed a creation of the Clinton Administration/Democratic policies.  There is just WAY TOO MUCH evidence out there to believe otherwise. The Bush Administration can take the blame for a LOT of it's own bad policies, but to try and saddle them with THIS mess is just a bit ridiculous.

drummer......I know that this is going to shock you......BUT......I agree with you 100%. Now...pick yourself up off the floor........

We all need to take more interest and not give our representatives a moments rest, and demand that they ALL define how they are spending our money...and why...

Apathay has griped this country for way to long.

What kills me is that given all the digs from the Dems and Obama regarding the current state of the economy, the Reps aren't responding with anything logical and explanatory to shut it down, and there's plenty of data to do so. It's like the record is skipping on, "Obama wants to raise your taxes, cavorts with bad people and McCain is a maverick." Really. They need to expand from a couple soundbytes and smear tactics. They're giving this election to Obama.

I agree.  Maybe it is because of polling data.   A recent gallup poll indicated only 6% of those polled were concerned about a candidate's ethics.

Truth be told the deregulation of the financial industry started with Jimmy Carter's Presidency. And you can point fingers at any president since then - they've all added elements of deregulation. Not to mention - that changes like that start in CONGRESS before it ends up on the President's desk.

So ALL our elected officials over the past 30 years are technically at fault. But... it boils down to what Drummer wrote - who cares??? Just fix it!

I understand that people jut want it fixed, but if we don't figure out were this went wrong, we are doomed to repeat it. I feel it was caused by banks loaning money to people who couldn't afford homes OR getting homes that were way beyond their means. And credit companies that were giving credit to people who they knew couldn't pay it back but gave it to them anyway.

I know so many people are scared right now but this time of belt-tightening is just the thing many American need to learn...only spend cash, if it's not food, a roof, clothing or medical..you don't need it. Americans need to take some personal responsibility for the mess we are in.

Lol, I think you're the only liberal I know of to still deny that the Democrats had any part in this mess. Congrats on ignoring facts!
