McCain is the guy to get the country back on track economically??

The same guy that calls Palin buying a jet for 2.7 million and selling it for 2.1 million a profit??

In that case, Bush has been PUS during the biggest economic boom in history!!  Great job!!

FALSE POST! Palin did not buy that jet. It was purchased by the previous governor, who she defeated in the primary. One of her campaign promises was to sell the jet. Once she was elected she kept her word, put it up for bid, and sold it to the highest bidder. It is all well and good to oppose her, but how about a little honesty.

The plane didn't sell on ebay, it was taken off and sold personally. I researched that, the ebay thing is BS.

"EBay got a huge plug Wednesday night when, trying to depict herself as a tight-fisted reformer, GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said she put an Alaska state jet on eBay.

But the Westwind II jet never sold on eBay.

According to PolitiFact, the plane, bought by her Republican predecessor whom she beat in 2006, was listed for sale three times on the San Jose internet auction giant. But no one ever met the minimum bid. The plane was listed with an asking price of $2.5 million in 2007. The state had paid just under $2.7 million for it in 2005.

Finally, the state turned to an aircraft broker, who sold the jet to an Alaskan businessman for $2.1 million."

Her direct quote was "I put it on E-Bay." Did she say she SOLD it on E-Bay? No, she did not.

Give it a rest, huh?

Well she did brag about it (and the video at the convention mentioned it) so why not discuss it? Or is a .6 million loss considered a profit?

If you bought a car in 2005 and sold it in 2008 would you expect to make a profit? I don't think so. Palin 'bragged' that she got rid of it, not that she turned a profit on it.

The point...McCain doesn't know what a profit is. That much is true!

OH my sides are killing me... you start a post, are proved incorrect and you say whatever? man, at least I admit when I am wrong, like the koran thing. Say it, you were wrong about Palin and the jet.

Profit? Like what Obama made when he did his shady realestate deal? Or profit like Michelle Obama makes when she consulted for the hospital and physically put people with no insurance out onto the street?

You can't say that McCain is some rich elitist in one breath and then say he doesn't know what a profit is.

I guess we would have to start out with the depreciation over time of a jet. Anyone have a blue book for corporate jets?

Not on me, but the fact that someone doesn't know how depreciation works (on cars, on jets...) is funny.

Wrong on Palin..sure. You happy.
Now, back to the original point. McCain still doesn't know what a profit is. Go ahead, shift the discussion to Obama...there's a new tactic.

It is his wife that is a rich elitist, not him.
I can only imagine is Michelle Obama's outfit had cost 300,000 dollars. Oh, we'd never hear the end of it frin the righties. Then again, Johnny McSame could sell it for 150,000 and make a profit.

I don't recall one comment during his RNC speech, how he was going to tackle the economy?
I don't think he has a clue....

The state's jet plane was a major issue in the 2006 election, which Palin won. Then-incumbent Frank Murkowski had defied protests from members of the state Legislature and the public when he bought the jet in 2005 to travel around the state. His political opponents said the jet symbolized his arrogance and free-spending ways.

On the surface, his comment is rather unfortunate. I wonder though if by "profit" he was talking about this year's books. The money for the initial purchase was spent a few years ago so it's now off the books. By selling the plane, even at a seeming loss, she removed the expense of maintaining/insuring/whatever it and added 2.1mil to the bottom line, which would show up as profit for the current fiscal year. I did a brief search, but couldn't find much on current market value, but I am feeling lazy at the moment. Either way, calling the sale a profit is misleading or ignorant. He should have called it a savings.

I did find this little snippet though on maintaining a jet, "Buying or leasing a private jet involves understanding specific recurring, non-trivial expenses beyond the initial cost of the aircraft. Jets require certain expenses even without takeoff such as periodic mandated overhauls, storage, insurance and licensing fees. When flying there are take-off and landing fees, pilot pay and fuel costs." - taken from http://privateaircraftcharter.lifetips.com/cat/64650/jet-ownerships/
