Alert | Posted By Protofish on 08/29/2008 11:21 AM I am ashamed of everyone here, not one person has commented on how pretty she is But on a serious note, this is a weird pick by McCain. I know Mitt Romney has stepped on some toes during this whole process and alot of ppl thought he would have been a great choice for Vp and then groom him to be the next Presidential candidate. But this pick has it's good and bad points. I'm glad he didn't pick Romney for VP. Now Romney can be in his cabinet and have a large role in the economic sector and be able to contribute even more than a VP could. | | Despite All My Rage I Am Still Just A Rat In A Cage

Alert | What are the bad points? Her lack of experience? She got into politics in 1994, Obama 1997 and unlike Obama actually has hands-on experience. She was Mayor and then Governor. I would pick a Governor over a Senator any day to get the job done. Or are you comparing her to Biden?
Seriously, besides her independent/centrist tendencies what are the bad points?

Her "Centrist" stance is exactly what is going to get them votes...
Even Republicans are tired of the ultra-conservative movement that the GOP has undergone in the last couple of decades..
It's too bad that the self-proclaimed "conservatives" see her as a Centrist.. whereas I see her closer to a historical Republican than any of the other GOP candidates..
I think if any ticket can garner a "Goldwater" conservative.. it's this one..

Alert | I actually meant that those "Bad points" really aren't bad points. Don't know about you but when I have had time today I am reading what I can about her. I think it is great she is a whistle blower and it depends what her position is on the individual topics.
I had a rather heated discussion with a supposed "Right to Life" person when I told them by textbook definitions I am a "Right to Choose" person. It all came down to semantics in the end. I don't believe abortion should be synonymous with birth control. So lets hear more about her positons.
I like that when she was asked about being VP she said, "what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration." That and the fact that she LIVES in Alaska and is for exploring ANWR.

Alert | Well McCain's choice was certainly a surprise! However, I don't see how it will help him at all. Does he think he will get the female vote just because she's on the ticket. Don't count on it. Sadly, McCain's campaign is just plain boring and uninspiring, and I can't think of a thing he can do at this point to change that around.

The woman vote is less important than the independent vote... He'll for sure get some of the woman votes.. but it's the indies that are going to win this election...

Alert | Franky, I'm not happy with either camp. At least I wasn't.
Obama is going to be a hand puppet much like our current leader. McCain scares the hell out of me. I'm all for shakin' things up a bit, but maybe not that much.
I like to think of Palin as an equalizer. She calls it the way she sees it and doesn't appear to back down because someone says she should. Sure, she hasn't really been in Federal politics. Who cares? It's those that have been there a long time that are causing our problems. Maybe she will be able to come up with creative solutions to our stupid problems and actually implement them.
It's time for a healthy breath of fresh air, I think even as VP, she's going to be able to do it. I think she is just what we need after way too many decades of crappy leadership. | | When the only tool you own is a hammer, every problem begins to resemble a nail." - Abraham Maslow (1908-1970)

Alert | She is a proven leader.........she has corrected the financial condition in Alaska within a 2 year period.......she has an 86% approval rating by the people she serves......I love the fact that the media has already labeled her a "maverick", because she gets things done.....and she has a "blue collar" husband that she refers to as "the first dude"......
How refreshing to have some ass kicking young blood that has a success rate in politics, and still represents "Motherhood" to 5 kids and is raising them with values. If these things don't make her an effective "multi-tasker", and a person that looks for challenges....she is the right choice. Her performance will earn her additional respect and will be a welcome addition to Washington.
Oh yeah........."Yobama" hasn't accomplished.........yes, accomplished a fraction of the experience that she already has.
Sit back folks, and enjoy the "fresh aire" that is headed our way.

Alert | Dems are already saying that she has no federal gov experience. Sounds like Bill Clinton, the man they love. So now we have a race with two senators against one senator and a governor. Of the four only the governor has any experience running a government. What have the other three ever been in charge of? If you want change from the DC way of doing things, who is the only one who is not a Washington insider? On another note , on one side we have two party hacks who vote the party line almost all of the time (check the voting records, Obama is the most loyal Dem and Biden is not far behind him). On the other hand we have two individuals with a reputation and track record of bucking the party line and thinking for themselves. I you want change, who is most likely to provide it?

Alert | She's a centrist? McCain is still a maverick? Hmm...I must be reading different articles about her.
Is this lady ready to be president? Not in my view. I thought questioning McCain's judgement was just a bunch of grandstanding. With this VP pick, I actually do question his judgement.

Alert | It's too bad we can't flip the ticket. I'd rather have Palin as president than McCain.
I'm still shocked that the next president will be a senator. Other than Kennedy (who beat Nixon only with heavy cheating, particularly in Chicago), we haven't had any presidents elected out of the Senate. That I can think of, anyway. Presidents are almost always governors or vice-presidents. There's very good reason for that, too: no experience actually running anything. Biden's supposed foreign policy credentials stem from serving on Senate *committees*, not any substantial foreign policy experience.
I was sure that the next president would have been a governor, and that was dashed when the two nominees were both senators.

Alert | Let's face the facts Kenmoreguy.........we all know where you stand because of all your posts, and you can't cast any negative light on Sarah.......just because you are a member of Yobama Nation.
Sarah is "hot" and she will bring more heat with her new office.........why you ask?......because she has a good "boss" and won't take any guff from lazy, self-serving politicians, that try and humble her just because she is a woman.
McCain picked a WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alert | Great taste in women? I haven't really seen all the women McCain has been with. The ones he had affairs with while he was still with his wife. Scratch that...morals or no longer an issue since it was a Republican that jad affairs. So, as for his better taste, I really don't know. We can agree that it's better taste than Bill.
Corman, let's face it. McCain could have picked Mary Smith and you would have said it was a great choice.

Alert | so what about the investigation into her abuse of power as governor of AK where she wanted her state trooper ex BIL's boss to fire him after their divorce&the guy refused so she canned him? or the unconfirmed reports that her 17 yr old daughter Bristol is pregnant&unwed. doesnt that go againt the nut job right wings mantra of no sex before marriage/abstence?
so grandpa mcsame votes 90 percent with dubya&he is supposed to bring change because he brought this woman on board? you think he isnt a control freak with his famous temper&basically she will be a yes sir woman under his thumb, no doubt about it. she messes up one time&he drops the C word on her like he did his wife. ya know if the right wing believes that gays&abortion is wrong thats fine, but dont go along with the 8yrs of failure from dubya just because grandpa is conservative in regards to pro-life/anti gay rights. we all know Barack Obama is going to win, people are tired of the same old crap of free market, stiff old white guys&ladies like colture&want something new. they dont want big oil making huge record breaking profits at our expense, they are tired of the lies&deception from cheney&dubya, tired of all the slander&vitrial that spews from the republicans at every opportunity in front of a tv camera, tired of seeing the gulf between the haves&have nots grow wider by each yr, tired of losing their homes, tired of having to sell their home if a loved one needs life saving surgery that big health insurance only covers part of. its time for a party that cares about the working class, everyday americans and not just those who have more than others.
btw you know Obama slugged the right with not only a hook, but an uppercut&a jab and kept it up throughout his speech. very very very moving speech, and i will be so proud to say i voted for him&biden come november 4. *puts on flame suit* bring it on right wing nut jobs!!!! | | listened for, they cannot be heard;looked for, they cannot be seen; felt for, they cannot be touched: old ninja proverb
