http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/2277298/President-George-Bush-%27Goodbye-from-the-world%27s-biggest-polluter%27.html

The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter."

He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.

Mr Bush, whose second and final term as President ends at the end of the year, then left the meeting at the Windsor Hotel in Hokkaido where the leaders of the world's richest nations had been discussing new targets to cut carbon emissions.

Well it's not like pandering to them would have changed their minds about his record on the environment. Might as well have a sense of humor about it.

Good for him making a joke. When the G8 conference seems to be a joke in itself, the article says they really didn't accomplish anything.

Sure we "pollute" more because as a Nation we consume more than any country with a population its size. But to act like we don’t have tough emission laws put in place is crazy. We don't even get all the cool foreign cars that we cannot make emission friendly here in the USA. Wait a second! Foreign cars pollute more than ours.

Now that you have pointed out because of my post the rest of the world is my stage.  Because of my supposed lack of intelligence I merely thought I was voicing my opinions to mere locals.  You know a small Arizona town that everyone confuses with the bigger city’s county.

I think these supposed 1st world countries such as India and China are great.  They have 3rd world standards for their emissions.  It’s too bad we care so much and have to please everyone.  Without all of our pesky laws and regulations we may be able one day to ramp up production just like these other countries.

But who am I to argue with someone with near 1000 posts with so much knowledge and insight.  Who by their own words must be a “Dumb American” as seen by the rest of the world.  You could always be the person who left to one of these other countries with this view.  Just so you could say “Well I am not one of those dumb Americans, that’s why I came to live with you.”  Don't let the door hit you.......

Bush has taken this country to such a low point that in the world view I am embarrassed for my own country. I love it here so no I won't leave but when my idiot president perpetrates more negative stereotypes of Americans I get offended.

I second that!

How did I know jhall would be the first to use that  magazine cover as an avatar?

I wonder how the righties would react, had they drawn McCain with a hitler stach and an SS uniform?

Well, pardon me. Get your panties out of a twist. I definitely observed some complaining/disgust from you for Bush's comment/joke, so yeah...it appears you can't take a joke like you implied you could.

I equate GW's behavior in front of other foreign leaders at this summit, as a little spoiled brat who wants attention from adults.

>>>speak for yourself Caveman. Besides, Stupid or not some of us Americans recognize that in this anarchic world  we are still the hegemon which means we can do pretty much whatever the hell we want to. Kyoto is just a huge redistribution scheme which pretty much screws over the developed countries all because Al Gore says there is a crisis.

Screw the spinless europeans, If they want choke off their economies for no good reason we should sell them the rope. One less economic competitor for us.
