Politics and religion don't belong together.

I'd rather live one day as a lion, than my whole life as a lamb.

Politicians shouldn't be talking about  zeus, god, ra, mohammed, xenu, buddha, isis, jesus, apollo or any other deity type imaginary thing.

Its called separation of church and state and it would be nice if we started that.

There is no reason for Obama to be quoting the bible, other than to pander to the religious freaks.

 No offense.

There is no law stating separating between church and state. It was only ever remarked in a letter by Thomas Jefferson about how there should not be a government sponsored church ex: The Church of England. I think politicians need god for a moral compass.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough
to take everything you have.

jhall- I like your signature quote by Thomas Jefferson.  That is a true true statement.  Pretty much sums up where America is headed, sorry to say.

He needs to just stop because he's just showing his ignorance and that he probably doesn't really go to church other then for a photo op.

They need morals. God has nothing to do with that.

Separation of church and state means only that the state will not endorse a religion. It does not mean that a leader cannot use his/her religious perspective to make decisions that affect everyone else.

You know that, RT. Don't make me poke you with a dull pencil.

I looked at the article. Obama did not say anything that any non-Evangelical critic hasn't thought or stated. His comments weren't worthy of such a strong response from Dobson. It's obvious only that he isn't a fundie, and that he is more politician than anything else.

The last candidate of the Christian Right doesn't speak well for their endorsement. Focus on the Family should concentrate on public service and not on influencing politics.

Him too.  How many soldiers have to die for his personal war predicated on a lie?

If your god is moral compass for George W, then your god sucks.

I have to disagree in this instance JHall. I am not a fool nor given to drama. However, the way that our rights have been eroded in the same of "our best interest" is quite alarming. The same government that had the faulty intelligence that entered us into the war, now has the blessing of the people to acquire the most personal information. This was planned. We were whipped into a frenzy of fear by the complicit media with the intention of using that fear to create new laws.

That people from both sides of the aisle aren't equally outraged proves only that there are those among us who choose to suspend critical thinking in favor of serving some kind of misplaced allegiance to either a leader, a process, or a political affiliation.

People are still human, they still make mistakes. Like jhall has pointed out, there are many great Americans that have had God as a moral compass.

You cannot extract religion from politics without extracting religion from people.
