Because president Bush thinks it is ok to torture others so just wait for some of our boys to be captured. Thanks Georgie.

That's just disgustiing. I really enjoy the picture they posted of him too. That sinister grin and all just assures me that there's a place in hell for him. I'd like to see him veto his eternal life with Satan.

And to think, this practice makes America safe....

Torture is a persuasive way to start a dialog with a terrorist.  They aren't about to stop beheading US citizens, even if we banned water boarding.  We can't win the war on terror, if we play by different rules than they do.

I'm not condoning torture, but I also believe that even if we didn't torture them, they would still torture us, as RichTig said.

And not torturing them leads to no results and lies.

Keywords: WE CAN'T STOP THE WAR ON TERROR

Is waterboarding going to make the world safer?

Imagine this scenario. An atomic bomb is set to explode in Phoenix in one hour. It will kill millions. You have the man who planted it,he refuses to give you any information. Your move, the clock is ticking. what are you going to do? You now have 59 minutes. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. 58 minutes. Do something, millions will die! 57 minutes left.

That's a little drastic there, hastings. If that was the scenario all the time, then I'm sure waterboarding would be fine.

That's like asking a gun hating liberal what he would do, if there was a gun on the table and a burglar strangling his wife. As much as I hate guns, I'd use it to shoot the bad guy...

Imagine this scenario. Another country thinks the US is set to explode an atomic bomb in their country. They have 59 minutes. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. 58 minutes. They have to do something, millions will die! 57 minutes left. It cuts both ways that is why there is the Geneva Convention.

Yes, my example was an extreme one. That was my point. Blanket support or condemnation of an activity are both wrong-headed. There will always be times when extreme measures are unwarranted and times when they are appropriate. It is unsatisfying to those who always want a definitive yes or no on an issue, but sometimes (most of the time?)the proper answer is - it depends. Very seldom does a one size fits all answer really fit all.

That's an absolutely ridiculous scenario... but I'll play.. I'd bet my house that one of 2 things would happen.. He would either give you some lame place to distract you and tell you what you want to hear.. or he would say nothing...

People who condone torture need to realize this.. These people BLOW THEMSELVES UP.. and their mindset is that they will have MORE riches in the afterlife the MORE they defy the US.. just what do you think torture is going to do?? I'll tell you.. nothing more than add more fuel to THEIR recruiting campaign...

Wise up folks... once we stoop to the level of our enemies.. we are no better than them.. I like to believe America is the highest standard and that we are above and better than that...

Ridiculous scenario? For several years now, there have been reports of groups trying to get the material to make a bomb. The US gov has been concerned about attempts to get control of Soviet material and personnel.Do you honestly believe that terrorist groups are not attempting to do this ,and if they had the ability, would not use such a weapon on the US? I sure hope that someone with that mindset is not responsible for the national defense.

If terrorists WEREN'T cowards they would torture THEMSELVES to gain even more riches in the afterlife. I mean anyone could blow themselves up. It's quick and painless. Wusses.

You are absolutely correct on this Shane, what's a guy gonna care if he has already prepared himself to meet Allah?  He will lie or just smile as you kill him.
