Alert | The thing that I cannot believe is that about 1/3 of the sportsfans still believe him. The poll on ESPN.com right now shows that 31% believe Clemens. So by this account, McNamee is lying only about Clemens, but truthful about Knoblauch and Pettitte, the abscess on Roger's butt was really from a B-12 shot, from steriods (even though the doctors interviewed have done thousands of B-12 shots without ever seeing an abscess from one), Clemens' nanny really was confused about being at Jose Canseco's house because of her poor grasp of the English language, Roger did only call her as a favor to Congress (not to solicit testimony), Pettitte really is an idiot who cannot remember conversations of great importance with his best friend and everyone but Roger and his lawyers are just on a witch hunt and there is no real evidence against him.
Clemens had an answer for each issue brought forth. Individually, he might be credible, but with that many contradictions, there is no way that everyone else involved was either lying or mistaken. I couldn't help but notice how many times his tongue came out of his mouth too.
It will be interesting to see if anything comes of the "physical evidence" that McNamee provided to the feds.

Alert | | Clemens is a scum bag like the rest of them. He'll get away with it, so why are we wasting time on this. I can't believe the Federal government cares this much about this stuff. There are so many bigger problems in the world and they are concentrating on cheaters in baseball and football? What a joke. | | They are who we thought they were!

Alert | If Clemens wouldn't make such a "hoot" about it and go ballistic when the Mitchell report came out...and continued to deny deny deny.....if anytime ask and say it's riduculous, he would have gotten away practically. Clemens got his attorney, challenged the press and live conferences, invited sportstalk/news/espn and so fourth to help validate his claim that he is innocent of using any type of sports enhancing drug and keeps shooting himself in the foot...(recorded conversation w/ Mcnamee that damaged Clemens and raised more question than helped him) .
So in essence, Clemens was asking for this.....and even challenged the govt. and is over-exerting himself to prove his innocence. Here's the thing I don't buy from Clemens, Why would Brian Mcnamee name two other people along with Clemens who have admitted to taking the steroids.....singling him out? Vengeance for something? C'mon....please.
The damaging statement by Pettis should be the nail that seals this coffin shut on Clemen's innocence. Pettis was Clemen's friend and had no beef with him whatsoever, he has been honest the whole way and even admitted to taking HGH and so fourth...why would he incriminate his own friend for no gain, no reason. Simply put, when questioned initially by correspondents and the mitchell crew, he told the truth.....and Clemens went the route after the report by denying and falsifying any claims against him that were told in truth......making them to be imaginary accusations and a mistake on everyone's part. C'mon Clemens...what the heck?
I also find it disturbing about his wife mysteriously taking HGH by Mcnamee alone together w/o Clemen's prior knowledge, only to discover Mcnamee's stuff laying around in his house. What?!? So his wife is a user and he isn't? He has stated numerous times of being a hard-core anti-substance abuse and anti-steroids.....that he sooo against it, yet his wife was secretly using this performance drug behind his back.....?!? Odd.
That is just terrible.......i'm not even going to go into how guilty Clemen's body language, making up words and bad posture under the spotlight......looked vs. the other days and weeks leading up to this where Clemens seemed confident and was ready to take on the world.
He asked for this, and he is now probably going to get perjury slapped on top of him....more salt as his credibility was already tarnished....by himself.

Alert | | I agree, he looked and acted guilty. Liars' body language is easy to read although it was painfully obvious with him. I've come to realize that it's human nature to lie to protect yourself. Alert | I'd bet 80% of pro ball players, in the late 90s through 2000s, were using performance enhancing drugs.
I blame baseball for being retarded and looking the other way on this. And how is it cheating if everybody is doing it?? | | AmyG steals lil' nick nacks from your home. Don't let AmyG in your house.

Alert | because there are those who have something called integrity and haven't done it, and there were those who have done it like what you said....80%, but also admitted to it. it's just the other 80% number at THE VERY LEAST are probably for those who don't admit to it, and have done it. Alert | Speeding is against the law, and on the books.
In 2001, there was no rule in baseball against injecting yourself full of cattle hormones. | | AmyG steals lil' nick nacks from your home. Don't let AmyG in your house.

Alert | anabolic steroids and any type of steroids was classified as a schedule III substance - same class as amphetamines, methaphetamines, opium and morphine. Simple possession of any Schedule III substance is a federal offense punishable by up to one year in prison and/or a minimum fine of $1,000. It is against the law.....same with speeding theory, against the law.
no difference how you look at it, and skirt around the whole idea. Just because everyone does it, doesn't mean it makes it right or be ignored.
Even if baseball at the time didn't have any rules against this, it was still against the law....and that is the basis of what Clemens is going through right now, probably perjury. Who cares what baseball does to him.....whats done is done as far his cy youngs go and probable hall of fame and his past records and career.......Roger Clemens wants to challenge everyone that he didn't do it, well...he's taking it all the way...and making himself look more and more guilty.
I do agree though, baseball should also be blamed for looking the other way or being so ignorant to the problem at hand, instead of letting it fester to what it is now. MLB steroid policies were a joke, a slap on the finger....nevermind the wrists.
according to the olympic non-baseball drop out....
MLB's previous reluctance to take a hard line on drugs (as many other sports featured far stricter testing and penalties) was widely seen as one of the main reasons why baseball has been dropped from the Olympics, effective in 2012.
