Sure wish your "league" was a bit more organized...

Went to the park early Saturday, needing to get the forms to fill out for my children, only to be told that someone FORGOT them at home and would need to run and grab them. She then proceeded to help more people, and left 10 minutes later to get the forms (that pretty much everybody needed). Apparantly she lived in Cobblestone, but it took her nearly 30 minutes to get back to the park. Ridiculous!

We have lived all over the country, and have been involved in some pretty great Little Leagues (including Pennsylvania) , and boy, you guys sure have a lot to learn.

Last year all we heard is that the league was still new and growing, and that each year it gets a little better. You guys better step-it-up and start learning what your roles are, or there will not be anything successful come out of Maricopa (and that would be a shame for some of the great athletes living out here that would suffer due to your chaos and disorganization).

N2b, what do you propose happens? do you have some concrete solutions to your perceived problems? Ok, they forgot forms. Slap their hands but what else is wrong with the league?

I understand the frustration on not having the forms at the sign up. Yes the league is still growing and people are going to forget things and make mistakes.

I guess my question is, since you have been a part of so many organizations - did you fill out a volunteer form so you could share some of your knowledge?

I know from past experience that the league needs many volunteers. Please fill one out and we WILL become a better league.

Minor glitches are reflections of an entire system break down? Wow. That's excitingly dramatic. I think we'll join again this year to see what other incredibly life-changing and un-recoverable problems the league comes up with.

Since the volunteers running the league are.............{drumroll please}...............HUMAN, I suspect we'll be entertained all season.

I'm running for the popcorn now.

We actually DID fill out volunteer paperwork last year, in March... We took it to the auto parts store, like asked to do, and then didn't hear anything back from the league until JULY! After the entire season was over. And the notice we got at that time stated that a background check had just been run. Why wait until JULY? Hopefully some of the other volunteers were checked out BEFORE they began working with the kids.

My frustration hit a high point at this year's sign-up when the gal admitted that she had left the box of paperwork at home, and then stood around for 10+ minutes chatting, before leaving to retrieve it (after being asked a second time). Inconvenient for all those standing around waiting for the papers.

Thank god we didn't buy a home out here and get stuck in the trap with so many others.

I'm glad little leauge is filling up, but what about our Junior division? Word of mouth has it they are not going to be allowed to play this year!! I can't belive Maricopa would let these 13-14 year olds who have played little leauge down!!! I would like to hear from any body if they have any more info about our Junior Divison!! hell, stansfield has a team!!

One problem that I see is lack of grass to play and practice on. We need more fields in this area. I am sure it is in the works through parks and rec. I wonder if we could utilize more grass that the schools have? I really don't think MLL wants to let down kids, they work hard for those kids. You only have the power of so many. Just my opinion, of course...

We are again having registrations this Saturday 1/19/08 at Pacana from 10am till 1pm. Due to the limited use of fields this season, we have had to put a cap on the number of teams in all the divisions. There are still spots available, but they are filling up quick.

1/19/08 Registrations from 10am till 1pm for baseball and softball for ages 8-12.

I'm so disappointed about the Juniors division, too. I know field space is an issue and I truly hope something comes up for them. For some of these kids, they volunteer as scorekeepers and junior umpires all season, with the reward at the end being their own season.
