I signed my daughter up when does this start? I thought it was sometime in October we should be hearing from the coaches?

The first game has been moved back until November 3. The coaches have received team roster(I received mine the other day.) Tonight there is a coaches meeting. Practice schedules and equpment will be given out tonight, too.

My answer WAS "NO" to Q#5 and Q#1.

When are we supposed to hear from the coaches as to when practices will start? I believe we need to get them shoes & shin guards, but before I go buy them I want to make sure my son was put on a team.

I am stiil waiting as well. I emailed theParks and rec and they said if I don't hear from the coach tonight, to contact them tomorrow. They were able to give me the coaches name though. So, if you don't hear by tomorrow, I would email parks and rec to at least get a coaches name and assurance that your kiddo IS on a team roster.

My hubby is a coach and he sent out an email to all his kids parents. They may contact you by email, or by phone. You may want to contact the parks and rec and find out who your coach is.

I am a youth soccer coach, ages 4-6. I have received my team roster and sent out an email to the parents. I am finding that several email addresses provided are incorrect. I only got responses from half my parents. When contacting the other half, I left messages but have not received calls back. Please parents, help us coaches out. Stay in contact with the Parks/Rec dept, make sure your info is accurate, and contact the coach if need be. I just got done with the flag football season and had the same problems in the beginning. I had two bad contact phone numbers and email addresses. I suggest calling and verifying that the information you provided is still up to date, and no mistakes were made when transcribing this information and passing it on to the coaches. Thanks.

I am a coach of 10-12 year old boys and girls. There was a scheduling(practice) conflict for me regarding the two teams. This will be resolved shortly. I apologize for the delay. I know the players and parents are anxious to get going. I am, too!!!

My answer WAS "NO" to Q#5 and Q#1.

I just spoke with Marty, nice guy BTW, and he was able to help. He suggested that I post the following information since he's no longer allowed to post on 85239 as a rep of the city. I state this, because I alerted him to this thread and asked him to respond.

*They are currently 6 coaches short in the 4-6 age group. They have 34 teams in this age group alone.

*They had 718 kids register and 66 teams were created.

*He indicated that some parents forgot to write down a phone number and email address. In those cases a letter is going in the mail to request this information. Also parents forgot to select an age division, left off ages and birthday as well as uniform sizes.

*Parents who have not heard should contact Sports Coordinator David Aviles at 568 9098 x264 or by email at daviles@cityofmaricopa.net

*They are overseeding all fields at Pacana Park so the fields are closed from now until Nov. 3.

*Sports Authority has an equipment bundle consisting of a ball, shin guards and cleats for $30.00

I'm excited about the season. They are going to have the concession stand open this season with different groups selling beverages to raise money for their own needs. I recognize the delay in getting the word out but overall I am impressed with the program.

One more note to add: as of the coaches meeting last Thurs., there was one 10-12 age group girls team without a coach. There are four 10-12 girls teams total. I will notify my players really soon as posted above.

My answer WAS "NO" to Q#5 and Q#1.

I am NOT excited about the practice time in Nov. for the 4 to 6 year olds. HOWEVER it is very nice of the coach to try to accomodate those of us who need an earlier practice time.

i understand your feelings jodi, but some parents need to give up on the utopian hope of the ideal practice time. most parents, at least the ones on my daughter's team, work and can't get home till 6pm. We have a 630pm to 730pm practice time and I have no problems with it for my 5 year old.

are the game schedules available online yet for download/printing?

As far as the practice times, Letting my daughter stay up a bit later one night a week probably won't hurt. Since most people have a commute to Maricopa, I'd say having an earlier practice would pretty much be a waste of time. Just my 2 cents

Ask your coach if you can get the schedule via the PDF file that was emailed to all of the coaches.

I also had a parent ask about the late practice times in November and December. The reality of the situation is there are 56 teams needing some kind of lights one night a week and only the outfield sections of the softballs fields that can accommodate all of the teams. I counted my practice days and it came up to five practices that will be late. In the whole big scheme of things, it's a minor inconvenience.

This may be old with this info but coaches can get a "Coach's Club" packet at Sports Authority which is free and takes 30 seconds to get at the counter (full of coupons). We still need coaches though!

Went to Sports Authority today at Chandler Mall, they are completely out of the smaller cleats (my daughter is 4 yrs old). Big 5 at Alma School and Queen Creek has small cleats. We bought cleats, socks, and shin guards for just under $40.
