 Alert | | Does anyone take their children to the Chandler or Ahwatukee area for NYS tackle football? If so, I was wondering where their games were played--do they play in the same city/area every week? And also I noticed their rules state that every child is required to play time equal to 1 half, so that everyone gets equal play time --is this so? | | | |

Alert | My son does not play in that league but I have heard it is a good organization depending on what you are looking for. NYS is great for kids that are just starting out in a sport or need some additional technical instruction.
I would look at the age of your child and his/her ability level and try to determine the type of league that would be best.
To the older kids, being competitive is real important to them, as is skill development. If they are losing games but they can see their skills improving they will be o.k. If they are winning and they are not improving a lot, they will be o.k. with the experience, but if they are losing and not getting better, they will not enjoy the experience of playing sports.
Evaluate your childs ability and be honest, then choose the best league or situation. Often a child would rather play with his friends, play less, and be on a winning team then play with people he does not know, get more playing time and win or lose.
Lots of things to consider, but, be sure to make a choice that is in the best interest of your child with their input. Youth sport parents tend to make choices for kids based on what the parents want and what the parents think is right without ever talking to the child.
